My focus.=) hello you just gave me this anwser.=) "i have had this problem before with fords and the solution i found was to take out the door chime and clean up the conacts and then instal it again just how it was in there.....first i would disconnect the negative side of the battery before you do this because when i did it i got zapped. after you connect it try the brake lights and tell me what happens. also #2 check for a bad ground wire (any black wire attached to the body or frame usually with a green screw) check for corrosion. if corrosion is present take off that wire and scuff up both sides of where the screw and the eyelet connect with the body then connect again." I'm a girl..and frankly so is my husband..where can I find the door chimes? and which side is the negative side of the battery? =) Your help is greatly appriciated my friend.=) P.S. I was thinking about changing the brake light switch..will this help? and if not..what things do I need to attempt the repair you outlined? tools..parts? Thanks a million.=)

Lol...about the husband thing.....first the negative side of the battery is black.....and has a minus sign next to it.

the door chime is usually located under the dash next to the fuse panel. to locate it you can put your key in the ignition and open the driver door so the chime is activated then follow the noise. thatll show you where it is......in some cases you can remove it by just pullin on it a little bit and you will feel it get looser...in most cases there will be a small clip that has to be pulled away from the chime itself....itll be a small box. to clean the contact you can use electrical contact cleaner (you can get that from your local automotive store) then just remember how you took it out so you can put it back in.

tell me how you do :)

ps. it only goes in one way ...if that makes you feel more confident bout doin it....if u have any questions let me know.

Chime doesn't work, When you leave the key in the ignition and door open, no chime. When you turn the truck off with the headlight on, no chime. Also when you open the drivers door, no interior lights

Common problem for a Ford. I found with mine having that and multiple other low voltage problems it came down to the body computer. Don't skip over the easy things first though. The fuse, the chime itself and a grounding wire.

THERE IS A BEEPING NOISE THAT STARTS AFTER DRIVING IN MY 2000

Here are the warnings:

The generic electronic module (GEM) controls the following warnings and chimes:
  • Driver safety belt not fastened (warning lamp and repetitive chime).
  • Key-in-ignition (repetitive chime).
  • Headlamp-on warning (repetitive chime).
  • Door ajar (warning lamp and single tone).
The following four distinct chime rates are used to indicate warning:
  • Seat belt warning chime is one chime per second.
  • Key-in-ignition warning is two chimes per second.
  • Headlamp-on warning is four chimes per second.
  • Door ajar warning is a single chime.
please rate as solved if this is what you needed.
