it looks like i have enough space (at least as I feel the switch) to pool the switch into contact position...???

  • 77sergiu Sep 30, 2008

    thank you!

I hope is not a faulty switch... even though it lock's in the two available positions and when I pool it towards me (or steering wheel) it flashes with the high beam as a normal one would.

    cheers

    Problem solved!!!
I opened the case behind the steering wheel and I discovered that the connection was loose. Just a simple pressing back was enough!

Hi have you had the steering wheel off if you have may well of distrurbed the switch housing and needs readjusting to give you the extra space for the pull switch to lock in to the contacts if not most cars are wired so the the fog lights work with a certain position on the light switching circuit example side lights need to be on main beam needs to be selected so i would fix the problem with your light switch first and see if the fog lights work after it may be seperate problems but might not as i said if you have not had the steering wheel off and you have to hold the switch up to get it to work then the switch is faulty yates210456

hi can you feel it click into place when you pull it pull slowley towards you and feel for it locking in if it does then the switch contacts may be contaminated the switch is a sealed switch as such as it is not meant to be took apart but sometimes if your lucky can spray a lubricant such as WD-40 it may clean the contacts if it doesn,t lock in the switch is definatley faulty best of luck yats210456

High bam and fog lights that just stopped working

Disconnect one of your headlamps and use a multimeter to figure out the positive low beam and ground on the wiring, then using the ohm meter function check the high beam wiring back to the fuses and relays.
If I remember correctly, the fog lights are supposed to turn off when you turn on the high beams. So that switch system may need to be looked into on the controls.

How do I turn on bottom fog lights on 2008 ford edge.

Through the same switch that turns on your headlights; after turning on the headlights, pull the knob to the switch towards you...just make sure the high-beams are off since the fog lights will turn off when the high-beams are on.

First of all are your headlights a double filament type headlight? If yes then I would suspect that a power wire to the high beams is broken or shorted. If your high beams are a separate set of lights from your regulars running lights then either the high beams headlights are missing. or has a broken power wire or shorted or...You could check the fuse box under your dash and under the hood of the car to see if you have a fuse for the high beam lights.

High beam indicator comes on with fog lights

Could your Mazda have daytime running lights? If you checked all fuses, did that include the three in the joint box?

There is an auto light-off control module that is central to all functions you describe. It is assumed that you would only turn on the fog lights with headlights on and set for high beam. If you set the headlight switch to LOW, the module closes the headlight relay to turn on the low beams. If you then turn the headlight switch to HIGH, the module turns on the high beams and allows you to turn on the FOG LIGHT switch, closing the fog light relay and turning on the fog lights. Since this sequence is not working, I suggest checking both high beam lamps as both could be burned out. Other possibilities are a defective headlight switch or the module

yes, ideas, your headlight switch on the steering column may be going bad. try tilting your steering column up and down while pulling headlight switch on, do your headlights turn on and off by them selfs? careful!! this is a hot or positive wire grounding to metal, which could lead to a fire in the steering column!! do you ever see,or smell smoke coming from the steering wheel? if you do,disconnect the positive cable from your battery immeadiatlly!! the only way to replace the switch is the removal of your steering wheel,if you are'nt mechanically inclined,i recommend you get a 2nd opinion and go forward with your problem as it can lead to a fire in your steering wheel or fuse panel! if all your fuses are good, and only have fog lights, but no low or high beams, but pull back on the turn signal switch, you have a problem with the headlight switch.located on the 'turn signal, high beam, low beam switch' on the steering column. the only way to repair,is replace it. sorry!! can recommend autozone auto parts, advance auto parts or try used parts place.but if you are keeping the car, recommend"new" part replacement. thank you for choosing fixya.com!!if we can be of further assistance, please repost your questions to fixya.com!

check fuse and relay, if its good, than you have faulty switch, only work on low but not high beam, to turn high beam on the switch move forward which is fauty or no contact, flashing high beam move toward you which has a good contact and working. it two switch in one unit.

1994 Mercedes c280 high beams not working...

At first 1994 C280 high beams began to not connect regularly when stick pushed forward, then not at all. Drove high beams by pulling and holding stick back towards steering wheel until that stopped working, too. Shop said the turn signal switch was at fault-- had seen it many times before with W202; about $160 to replace. Haven't done it yet, but should be an easy fix?

The headlights are stuck on high beam.

pull on the signal lever toward you (ceter position). the signal lever controls the head lights either high beam or low beam. if you pull on the signal lever toward you again, you will have high beam temporarily. and if you push the signal lever towards the front, you will have the high beam locked.
