Question about 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Replaced water pump, now won't crank, fuel pump is working, replaced battery, turns over.. no crank
> now it will only turn over, no crank
Just to clarify; crank = turn over So it is cranking but not firing.
Have you tried pulling a plug wire and letting it lay on the engine to see if there is any spark at all? Also, after sitting for a while, the crappy gasoline we have gets stale; I have a summer toy car that gets rough each spring until the 'old' gas is gone. If you have spark, I would then try the injector rail valve to see if you are actually getting fuel to the injectors; this is capped with a threaded plastic cap and underneath is a valve similar to a tire valve. Have someone crank the engine while you poke the valve to see if there is fuel present.
If you find both fuel and spark, then I suggest you buy a spray can of 'starter fluid' to squirt into the air intake to try to wake the engine up. Any auto parts store has it for a couple of bucks. This stuff is pure ether so VERY flammable; use caution. I have used up most of a can to keep an engine turning over until fuel supply has stabilized.
