VW Polo oil warning light

I've had a problem with the oil warning light coming on and bleeping for approx 1 week. I have topped up the oil and a mechanic friend could not find any evidence of a leak.
The pattern seems to be that it is fine until I hit around 10 miles and then the light comes on and the beeping starts.

The car is around 7 years old and automatic transmission.
Any ideas?

Had a similar problem on an 03 polo, couldn't figure out why the oil light kept coming on so finally took it to a vw garage who said there's a known issue with the bonet catch that causes the oil light to come on. They fixed it in a couple of mins free of charge so well worth checking if there are no other obvious problems

This would not be in effect of any oil leaking i would say your oil sensor has gone and would need to be checked out by a auto electrician. i hope this helps .

Have you checked your thermostat. Some cars do not have gauges for all componants of the car located on the dash board. A bad thermostat could drive the oil pressure gauge up, if there is not a coolant level gauge on the dash board.

Incorrect level. Check level at operating temps and while the engine is running. By sump and stainer you meant that you removed the oil pan off the car and cleaned the pickup tube of the oil pump? I'd suggest hooking up an oil pressure gauge so you'll know which part of the engine is starving oil and setting the warning.

The oil pump is relatively easy to change with the engine in situ if it is (commonly) at fault,
Get an oil pressure gauge with a pipe and brass fitting ready on, (borrow or buy cheap from boy racer shop), unscrew the sensor (or ask the garage to for a £5) and plug it directly into the sensor hole after you've been for a run.. When warm, mine sits about 40 at motorway speeds, ten at tickover.

If its the electronic unit, check the main fuses near the battery, also check the wiring connectors at the powersteering pump for loose or corroded plugs. If alls ok,you will need a diagnostic machine to read out what trouble codes are in the units memory.good luck.

1992 VW Polo 1.3L Coupe: warning light mystery

Bought a very reputable diy service manual for the vehicle, and that plus a bit of thought and nous gave me the cure: no intrinsic problem other than loose relay connections. Went round with the wiring diagrams as guide checking all electrical connections in tight and relays fuses etc all good. Switched on and no problem any more.

By the way, vehicle is 1992 VW Polo - not Fox (which in UK is a variant of the Polo)

Dear Customer,

1
check your sensors 1st,all sensors must be good

2
if all sensors are working good than check your engine firing sequence, some times happens when sequence was wrong,

3
check your exhaust and carborator tuning pin that creates the batter combination for firing in bore for batter performance & less emitions ,so check is it ok or not than go to your nearest service center that havad certified mechanics,

till you read this you had solve this problem definatly,

THNX
