Hello I have a 1989 chevy c1500 truck and when I turn the engine light does not but when heated turns on and you change the alternator and air pump and thought you might be the thermostat that all you have...

I"m not sure what the problem is, this sounds like the engine light is coming on because its overheating and you replaced the airpump and alternator and now you thinks it is the thermostat. if this is correct then yes replace the thermostat and also check the fan clutch, when engine is hot the fan should not spin freely. and last are you sure the engine light is on due to it overheating, if it is due to overheating then check fan clutch and replace the thermostant

I just replaced my clutch, and in doing so I had to disconnect the speedometer cable from the transmission housing. I obviously didn't re-install the speedometer cable correctly because it doesn't work...

No, there is no threat to your engine, because it does not have anything to do with anything mechanical. you might have a broken speedometer cable. The check engine light is a different issue. I would recommend taking it to a shop and have it scanned for any issues relating to the light being on.

Sounds like a jet engine some time the check engine light just came on 48hrs ago How do I fix it?

the jet noise and check engine light may be related, ive done a few of these with the jet noise. the problem is the clutch fan if frozen, this make the fan spin full speed when not needed to do so,this is the jet sound you hear, replace the fan clutch this will solve your problem,go to auto zone and have them reset the light . the part is about $200.00 and heres a picture of it.f3505f1.jpg

I had the clutch replaced and found out that I have a 97 engine in my 94 dodge neon. After the replacement the battery light came on, is there a potential problem?

I don't think the 2 things are related what so ever, since one is mechanical and the other is electrical. The only thing that comes to mind is the mechanic who did your clutch repair may have ( and rightly so) disconnected your battery during the clutch replacement since he would have had to remove the starter. Your battery light could have come on for many reasons. To name a few most likely are the battery just expired, it went bad. You may have a loose fanbelt, you could have a loose wire, including but not limited to the starter. Your voltage regulator may have went bad. Electrical problems at time can be the worse. Especially trying to diagnois from afar. The good news is that with the proper equipment they are relative easy to diagnois and if not replacing the car's computer are usually inexpensive to repair. I would start by going to your local auto shop like walmart, goodyear, a dodge dealer,or the guy who replaced your clutch, and having the battery checked out.
Good luck, be sure to let me know how it turnes out.
