Thats going to be the rack & pinion steering gear or the power steering pump. Have them checked soon! It can jam while driving and can ruin your day!

I have a 95 impreza and there is a squeeking noise colming from the engine when i turn the wheel , if the wheel is straight there is no noise but the moment i turn the wheel this noise comes its sounds...

Check power steering fluid, belt condition and belt tension. As soon as you move steering wheel it puts a load on the system, and these are the 3 most common reasons for noise.

Power steering fluid is leaking out as soon as I fill the reservoir. Makes noise as I turn the wheel weather the Jeep is in motion or not.

The noise is due to air in the power steering system. It will come out once you fix the leak, by setting the fluid level, install the cap and start and rotate the wheel left and right for a minute...shut off and check level again.

Power steering noise on turning; noticed no power

Check the ends of your rack & pinion for signs of a leak. If a leak is present, replace the rack & pinion. If no leaks, maybe your power steering pump is going out.

When I turn the steering wheel it grinds and moans like it's being shot. Is it the gearbox or the power steering pump, or neither?

These trucks are notorious for ball joints that make all kinds of noise. Start by inspecting the ball joints while someone turns the wheel side to side.

1. Jack up truck so wheels are free from ground.
2. With engine off turn wheel side to side and listen for your noise.
3. If you are not detecting the noise during this test the noise maybe in your power steering system.

Also note that sometimes the ball joints may not make noise unless the wheels are on the ground and loaded. In this case rocking the wheel should expose the location of your noise.

Steering wheel make a noise when turn left

its due to low/no fluid level in the power steering reservoir.Check the fluid in the power steering. If it is low the car will make noise when you turn the wheel. the internal parts gets rubbed hard and noise occurs. refill the fluid and let it reset for some time then try it will get the fluency to move smooth and noise will get stopped. -------- This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution if helped.thank you for using fixya.

When I go to turn the wheel in my 2000 ford ranger I hear loud squealing noises. I checked the power steering fluid and its full. What can it be?The squealing starts as soon as I turn the wheel to the left...

The power steering pump is normally connected or driven by the engine with a V-belt. A loose belt can cause squealing as soon as the power steering come under load (e.g. steering left or right while stopped).

Check the tension on the V-belt directly connected to the power steering pump. This may need replacement.

Hoep this helps.

2003 BMW 325i will start but making noise

It might be a faulty power steering pump. Try checking the level of the power steering fluid. It is probably best you have your power steering system checked by a mechanic.

Does the noise occur only when the vehicle is moving?

Try moving the steering wheel from side to side, while stationary (but don't do it too often, or you might damage something). If the noise is still present when the car is stationary, then it probably is the power steering system.

If the noise only occurs while the vehicle is moving, it could be a problem with the differential/final drive, or even wheel bearings.
