Question about 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt

My Key is getting stuck in my 2005 chevy colbalt. I have to keep putting it in park and most of the time I can eventually get the key out however two days ago I couldn't and now my car is like dead. It wouldn't even start with a jump? What on earth is going on with my car?

Sorry you have a bad ignition switch
You Should Replace it ... The last clue is the dead battery
The interlock with the the transmission need the ignition switch to work correctly

You could try a little silicone/graphite powder but you DON't want to be stranded so get er fixed

They come to wherever you are usually and do the repair onsite

My key is stuck in the ignition. The car is in park, but the ignition did not completely return to the off position and the key will not release.

Thats a chevy for ya ! Theres something weird between the shifter and the ignition. Turn the key as far as you can off, then put it in nuetrel. Start the car and it if starts, put it in park and turn the key off, if it is still stuck, keep trying .

2006 chevy cobalt LT. the key is stuck

Have you tried shifting the gears completely through and then putting the car in park. It sounds like the car isn't able to be put completely in park to release the key. Try putting the car in N and removing the key. Even thought the car may not completely be in park to release the key, The gear most likely is in park but not enough to make the switch/sensor to release.

Car shuts down after 20 minutes of driving

a likely problem is a fuel pump going down...as it gets warm, it heats up the wiring inside and they expand causing a loss of connection inside the pump...As it cools, it comes back together and works again...when it dies out turn the key off and listen closely for the pump to hum when you turn the key on...If it doesn't wait for it to cool and then when you try again listen and if you hear it and it starts, that's your problem...fuel pumps will go bad quickly if you don't keep your tank at least a quarter to half full as the gas is what keeps it cool so it don't get too hot and melt the shellac on the wiring which will eventually short out...

The key will not come out and the shift lever is not locked in park

Try putting foot on brake turn key on then put it in park. The key will not come out unless the shifter is in park.

A 2007 chevy colbalt my key is stuck in the ignition i tried turning the steering wheel as well as turnng the key back and forth the key still wont come out.

The most likely cause is the shifter. The BTSI solenoid is not working properly. The shifter will have to be replaced to fix the problem.

My key is stuck in my ignition

your problem is a solenoid Worth about 500 bucks in your steering column there is a small cover on the bottom of your steering column take this cover off and stick a pen up inside to push the button in this will release your key. a permanent solution is to jam something inside to hold the button in all the time. it wont hurt anything i've had mine like this for over a year
