May be as easy as emergency brake problem. that light used to stay on all the time in my 97, my emergency brake was no good, I got it fixed and after that the light was off. you see, when your brake light is on, your trac off light is on, once you release the brake, your trac off light goes off. it may help

2007 Ford Edge the gear shift locks up and the traction control light stays on and when I manually push the sensor button down by the brake the traction light goes off and I can drive then.

Sounds like the brakeswitch you are pressing by hand is not in the proper position. What often happens is your feet knock off the switch and the safety setup locks the gearshift because you are suppose to have your foot on the brake before you can shift out of gear. Can not comment on traction light.

Try unplugging the 4wheel drive actuator and see if it will disingage; if that doesnt work then its probably in the transfer case itself.

was the key in the on position while it was stuck in ignition? If so, you have a dead battery most likely. Get it charged or jumped depending on how dead it is and it should start. Hope that helps.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!
Have you tried replacing the torque converter? The torque converter controls the shifting of the car that when it's worn out the car will not stay on park. You may need to replace this just incase you haven't.

Hope this helps and Good luck! Thank you for using FixYa!

What is the traction button in my car

This button turns off the Traction Control system, this system automatically helps to control wheel spin like on ice and snow.

What does it means when the traction off light stays on and the anti brake light stays on? And I push the traction switch to on and it still stays on.

These two almost always come on both at the same time. It is almost impossible to make an assumption what the problem is without a diagnostic report. When one comes on they both come on. You can take the car to Autozone and they will run a diagnostic for free. This will help you narrow down what the problem is.

Transmission Traction "Off" light stays lit with Traction button

The traction control system is controlled through the Anti-lock brake system. The way it works is if one of your wheels starts spinning the ABS applys the brake to that wheel to transfer power to the oppsite wheel that is getting traction. If your ABS is bad then your Traction control won't work. To check it I would find a parking lot on a wet day. In an open space mash in the gas. if you hear the ABS system kick in and you don't squall the tires then your good. My guess is you won't. What I would be worried about is will my ABS work. When checking the traction control is a good time to check the ABS. Acclerate to around 15 mph, then mash the brake as your live depended on it. If you hear a motor run and feel a vibration or grind in the brake peddal, then it works.
