2000 dodge durango will not start

My wife's 2000 durango 5.9L will not start, she was running around town earlier and everything was good, when she went to pick the kids up at school she shut it off and when she returned the motor would not turn over it only clicked once and nothing else, the radio and lights and all work. I removed the starter thinking this was the problem but when I bench tested it everything was working properly, so I was thinking that the pinion was stuck in the flywheel and when I removed the starter it freed it, but when I had re-installed it and tried to turn over the engine it only did the same thing again one click and nothing, batt is @ 12v, I'm lost as to what to check next, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Remove and clean your battery connectors. Check to make sure they are tight. Often the lights will work but there is too much resistance to operate starter. If this is good have the battery checked. It should measure 12.6 to 12.8 volts with a fully charged good battery with no load.

2000 Dodge Durango 5.2L V8 starts but won't run

By run - do you mean it dies when you put it in gear? Or that it just bogs down when you attempt to accelerate or drive away?
..
A plugged Catalytic converter will cause this. So will a Bad MAP or MAS (Mas Air ) sensor. So will a bad TPS (Throttle Position) sensor.

2000 Durango SLT 5.9Ltr. Will start but idles high, around 7000-7500. All dash lights come on and stay on for a while. Voltage gage drops to below charge range and then all of dash dies and Durango starts...

well the fast idle is 1 of 2 things, Either the throttle is stuck? or a super nasty vacume leak, Check all hoses carefully, if that proves good check intake leak. Something is allowing tremendous vacume into engine causing this high idle, The charging system is a whole nother story

My dodge durango will not stay running

Will not idle unless gas is applied?
Will stay idle after a bit of running?

First i'd recomend starting off with a new battery if yours is older, durangos have a quirk with voltages and sometimes wont play with 12v.
Also the TPS could be an issue.
