Question about 1990 Subaru Legacy
Ok, we bought a 1990 subaru legacy 2.2l motor about a week ago & it missed on the way home But had power, then the next day on the way home the car quit, the water pump froze & broke the timing belt, we replaced it & the water pump, made sure that it was at TDC, & lined up all notches & belt. Then put it back together & washed out the motor & on the way home The cat tried to catch fire , so we tore it back down & checked it out to make sure the timing was correct, Put it back together & now it is missing horribly & dont even have enough power to back out of the driveway.
Check for water in spark plug tubes, ign. wire connector ends & coil pack for corrosion.
All marks go up, the crankshaft sprocket has an arrow that you don't use! if you position the crank sprocket where the key way is down you'll notice that the sprockect has a timing mark at the top of one of the sensor pickup teeth, use that. Here is a rough home made pic. I hope this pic made it, no conformation that it did.
