One of two things ignition switch or starter relay dissconnect the small wire on your starter put a test light on it if its turning over all the time this wire should be live now with the test light on remove the lower cowling around the ignition switch check each individual wire on the switch to find out what wires control what example accessary or ignition on and finally the one for the starter when you have found the one for the starter it should only be live when in start position if this is correct find yourstarter relay you will find it is proberly burned out and the contacts are stuck together by dissconecting the relay the test light should go out if you suspect the ignition switch unplug it and the test light should go out if so change the switch if it goes out yates210456

Car just died on our 1991 Honda bf thinks its the timing belt

I'll tell you four common failures on 90-93 Accords: 1.) The PGM-FI relay goes bad cutting power to the fuel pump. 2.)The distributor ignitor goes bad cutting spark. 3.) The ignition coil goes bad cutting spark also. 4.) The electrical portion of the ignition switch goes bad cutting power. (Quick check: try wiggling the key in a circular motion while its running, if it dies the ign switch is bad.) Note: Watch the distributor rotor while cranking. If the rotor turns while cranking than the t-belt isn't broken.

1997 accord won't turn over. Will turn over with a remote starter switch. Test light does not come on on the solenoid when key turned. did not see any blown fuses. Thanks John

it may be the contacts on the ignition switch, at the back of the ignition switch using a jumper wire touch the white wire to the white with black together, if the starter cranks it is probibly the contacts on the switch, or if your car is manual transmission you might have to press the clutch switch, this could also be the problem

He may have locked up the pin sequence. You might need to buy a new switch not that exspensive. Stay away from the dealership or it will be.

Honda accord 1997 ignition switch does not turn?

TRY TURNING STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE TURNING KEY, especially if your wheels are turned to either side and is not straight. Turn to the same side that they wheels are turned to if they are not straight. If that doesn't work that ignition lock may be at fault and you will need to replace. Good Luck
