Question about 1996 Chevrolet Blazer
Do I need to remove to body of my 1996 Chevy S-10 Blazer to replace my 4.3L vortec engine? The engine is leaking oil and the tensioner pully is bad and it sounds like one of the bearings is stuck.
Actually I pulled an engine out of a '86 S-10 4x4 and the book said you need to remove the front and cab bolts and raise the body up a few inches to get enough clearance. Punched a hole through the firewall to get one of the engine to bellhousing bolts out and didn't need to undo the body. There was about 1-2 inches clearance between the bolt head and the firewall before removing and the bolt is about 5 inches long so there isn't anyway of taking it out unless you want to pull the whole thing with the transmission attached and you would either have to have pulled the trans case off somehow or pulled it too.
