Hey polarice, you have either one of these two problems.Either the trans. pump input shaft is broken,or the torque converter itself has internally failed. This is a very common problem with these transmissions.Either way you will have to remove the transmission.Good luck.

You had something let loose in the trans. nothing easy when it come to a windstar trans.
i would find a transmission shop to take it to. the ford dealers and general repair shop want to sell you a rebuilt trans. even if yours might only need a valvebody.

i hope its just a minor repair.
if you get a quote and want us to go over it we will
just let us know
good luck

Hi Cheyenne:
- For the vibration, I'd be checking universal joints or CV jounts.
- Sounds like you've got your brakes figured out already. Time for some maintenance.

Valves are blown or timing belt skipped a gear. Get a compression tester.

Check the PCV valve and vacuum lines for leaks. You also need to check the Vacuum advance as it sounds like it might be sticking a little.

My 2000 rodeo isuzu always has the check eng lite on everyone has said there's nothing rong with it. I am having problems with it's tran it's shifys riff and is slowing down. Il have a full tank of gas...

There can be two problems that can cause you with your gas mileage problem. 1. your O2 sensor is bad - that would make your can slow to response and gives poor gas mileage. 2. your air-mas sensor - its a sensor that is connect to your air filter. if that's bad. it would give you the same slow response and bad gas mileage. The best thing you can do is. Take it to your nearest auto store and have them plug in a diagnose tool(code scanner) and they would tell you exactly what is wrong with your car. And this will not cost you anything.

If it only warms up to operating temperature and dies check the EGR Valve. It should be open within 10 minutes or so. If not the engine will die out although it will start after the engine cools down again

I had a similar problem once with my '04 Stratus. I was pulling out of my subdivision and stopped at the intersection and all of a sudden the car just stopped...completely shut down. I knew it wasn't out of gas because I filled up the night before. It wasn't the battery because all the electrical equipment worked. Come to find out, my timing belt had snapped. So, if it won't even start, that may be your problem because the timing belt is what makes the engine turn over. If the timing belt is snapped, there's nothing to turn the crankshaft to move the pistons, etc., etc. You should get a mechanic to look at it to find out for sure, but that's what it sounds like to me. Hope that helps.

Vam stalling

there are too many reasons...

it could be fuel pump,, it could be ignition coil overheating, it could be the computer itself...

you need two things for the engine to run,

1 is gas
2nd is ignition,,

with these two misfiring or your loosing one of them, it will stall...

i hope i was able to give you some thoughts....
