You should have a wiper fuse in the interior fuse box that you can pull to temporarily turn the wipers off. I suspect that the issue is due to a bad wiper switch which will need to be replaced.
Unplug the electrical connector at the wiper motor. Use a voltmeter to check for power and ground on the Pink and dark green wires. This setup has two relays: hi speed and low speed. If you're not getting power and ground with IGN switch on RUN and wipers turned on, then yank the relays and check for ground to the relay control coils provided by the body control module. The wiper switch acts as a signal to the BCM to provide ground to the relays. The switch doesn't actually switch power to the relays.
I have a 95 buick lesabre and the wipers wont seat properly/ When on any speed they are all the same speed. I have changed the motor out already and I am at a loss.. are there any solutions out there
Due to your first sentence, your problem sounds like it is in the actual switch. If it were a bad motor you would have experienced it stopping in the "on" position.
Hello Firerocker. If your washer motor works there is power in the circuit and ground. The wiper motor housing needs to be grounded. If neither one works check for power on the green wire leading into the motor. If nothing there your switch may be bad. If there is power to the green wire then check for power on the gray wire on low wiper speed and power on purple on high speed. Here is a diagram if you need it.
i had this problem; turned out to be the hi speed relay
under the hood, in the area with all the relays. there is a
cover which comes off, and you will see the relay,
