Honda mechanics state that my 1992 Acura Legend Coupe is leaking oil and coolant from under the front timing cover and I should bring it to an Acura dealer. What is the most likely problem?

Your water pump is leaking and most likely you had a small oil leak under there also and now the coolant is washing it out, don't go too long with these leaks because your timing belt is under there and is getting soaked with oil and and coolant this will break or slip off causing major engine damage to result (i.e bent valves) good luck and please rate -jeff

Oil and water leaking usually means headgasket but personley i would take the timming cover off and see whether or not these are two seperate leaks it could just be you have a camshaft seal leaking and been leaking awhile and not noticed and a water pump leak that just started main dealers are expensive and there are some very good mechanics out there just because they are main dealers doesnt mean they are better i would also check your oil if its white or traces of white in it it is the headgasket thats gone yates210456

Crankshaft front seal for the oil leak, and the water pump shaft seal for the collant leak.

As far as the coolant leak, valve covers don't leak coolant. I would look at the radiator and the hoses going to it. If you see any kind of coolant around it, then look into having it replaced. And for the transmission, on Acura and Hondas there is a drain plug on the bottom of the transmission that allows you to change the transmission fluid, the plug is round and has a square hole in it that allows you to put a 3\8th ratchet into. Drain the fluid and put the plug back in, then locate the transmission dipstick, pull it out and place a funnel into the tube and add about 3 quarts of genuine Honda transmission fluid. We do this a lot for customers where I work and it helps when our customers have that problem.

How do I remove front bumper cover?

To remove the front bumper cover you must first remove the turn lights in
the bumper. To do this remove the fog lights or the fog light covers by
removing the screw under the cover and remove the screw from the bottom that
holds the light in place. After doing this you will see a 12mm bolt behind
the light and one just to the inside of the lower grille. Remove all 4 of
these bolts(2 per side). Also remove the bolts /clips in the lower panel
under the bumper. The corners of the bumper near the fender actually slide
onto a stud that holds it in place. Just remove the bumper by pulling
forward. Sorry if this seems confusing but it is really pretty easy to do.

go to this link, once your on the acura site scrol down till you see the diagram

How do you drain the transmission fluid from a 1988 acura legend coupe?

The drain plug is on the right side of the automatic transmissions towards the front. You will get 2 to 3 quarts out and need to get Honda approved fluid (which is really Dextron I). It is $8 a quart at the dealer and the Castrol version is half the cost.
