Question about 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera
I garaged my 1994 Cadillac STS for a year and now it won't start. The last time it was driven there wasn't any problem. The battery is good and it cranks just fine. I put gas in the tank so I 'm sure that is ok. So, what is your guess as to the start up problem?
A no start condition is usually caused by either no spark at the plugs,or no fuel at the engine, both can be checked for operation.A spark tester can be inserted into the end of a spark plug wire, crank the engine, and if there is available spark, the tester will verify this with light pulses. No light pulses,no spark.Fuel can be tested by installing a fuel pressure gauge on the schrader valve,on the fuel rail,on top of the engine.Again, crank the engine and check for adequate fuel pressure, around 50 psi or more.If a fuel preservative such as Sta Bil wasn't added and mixed into the gasoline before storage, the fuel is likely bad, oxidized, which can cause running problems. If the fuel is bad,it will smell bad,and could be the source of the problems. If this is determined to be the case, the fuel tank should be removed, drained and cleaned, and a new fuel pump and filter installed.Good luck.

My first idea was gas
we have had alot of fuel related problems with fuel not storing well.
we need to find out if it has fuel pressure and spark to be able to pinpoint your problem.
somthing easy you can do is look under the hood for any possibilities of mice chewing wires or vacuume hoses . when you turn the key to on you should hear the fuel pump charging the fuel lines. ive also seen relays stick and not work from being stored if you look in your owners manual it will tell you which relay and you could tap it to unstick it .
turn the key off and on for 15 second about 5 times and on the fith time try and start it with the gas peddal half way to the floor and see if you get any popping or backfire or trying to run.
let me know how this goes
we should be able to get you running
