The only brake light that works when I brake is the one up in the back window. The others work when running lights are off but if I have my head lights on then the break lights don't come on. It's like the running lights and the brake lights are equally bright so their is no difference when the brake is applied while the running lights are on. If some one can give some insight to this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Tail lights not working did the right thing in checking the obvious so what you need to do is find your brake light switch which is on the brake pedal [top] take the the connector off get a spilt pin or something that will by-pass the switch connect together if these brake lights only work with ignition on don,t forget to switch it on your brake lights should come on if so replace the switch

Check in your vehicle fuse box for the side lights fuse if is blown. Most of the vehicles separate the lights with fuses to work.

I have replaced both circuit boards for rear tail lamps. I have verified that all of the fuses are good. Yet, I still have no taillights or dashboard lights. I do have signal lights, brake lights and...

You only need to change the tail light fuse if it is blown. If you haven't checked it already, do that. Those stop/tail bulbs are 2 filament bulbs. One filament is for brake lights, and other filament is for the tail lights. So it is possible to have brake lights and no tails, if the filaments for the tail lights are burned out. But of course, it is unlikely that all the tail lights would be out and all the brake lights still work.

You may need a voltmeter to help solve the problem. It could be a problem in the headlight switch (a problem with the park light function), but is more likely a problem with the Lighting Control Module- or the Body Control Module-whichever your car is equipped with. GM first came out with the LCM, and a year or two later came out with the BCM. Both are mini-computers to control lighting and cabin functions. You would have to use a voltmeter and check things like power in and power out at the BCM of the park lights. You would thus need a wiring diagram to go along with the voltmeter. Those modules are located up under the dash-you can use google to see pictures of them, and maybe find locations.

Brake lights work tail lights do not

This could be your reason. Some vehicle come equiped with a double filiment bulb. It could be that this part of your tail light bulb is blown. Try removing one of the bulbs to see if the filiment is broken. If you can not see this, replace the bulb.

The other senario is that the fuse in your fuse panel controling your tail lights (running light) is blown. This is usually on a seperate fuse than your brake lights. Your owner's manual should state which fuse is what on your panel and replace is with the exact same ratted fuse that it calls for.

Good luck! Hope I helped.

Tail lights do not work on a 2000 lexus rx 300 bulbs are fine, all other lights work fine

You may have a fried fuse. Look in your owners manual to find out which fuse it is in the fuse box diagram. If that is the problem make sure to use the same amperage fuse to replace the burned one with. I fried fuse is usually a sign that you have a short somewhere. But they can also fry for other reasons such as excess moisture somewhere. Sometimes they just burn from age and fatigue. It may solve it to just replace the fuse, but if there really is a short, the new fuse will fry too.

Tail light / dashboard not working, fuse is burn out 15 amp

Replace the fuse, and check the lights (tail lights) to make sure they are working ,and if not, inspect to see if the bulbs,or bulb is the reason for the short.

Why would both tail lights and brake lights go out at the same time on my 1989 toyota pick up?

Might 1st Check to see if the Fuse that goes to Your Tail Lights is Good.If Not Replace it.If that does'nt WorkTake the Rear Red Lens off and take a 12Volt Tester After Removing the Bulbs and Check to see if you have 12 Volts Reaching you Tail Light Bulb Sockets. And make sure they are Grounded Good.If the sockets for the Tail Lights have 12 Volts to Them ,Replace Thye Bulbs With New ,Hopefully this Solves Your Problem. If other parking light work in the front or the rear than you don't have a fuse problem. You need to check the wiring to that lamp or you just need a new bulb.

2000 Saturn sl2 tail lights

If the 2000 Saturn SL2 is the same as the '99 SL2, then your tail lights bulb is the same bulb as your break light bulb. Now they are dual bulbs, just like your head lights. So just the same way that your brights can work, but your headlight lamp be out, or vice versa, is the same with your break lights. So replace both bulbs and you should be good to go. I just had to replace both mine, one was a tail light out, and the other's break light was out, either way, same bulb. Also, check your manual for the light, or take the light out when you go in to get new ones. I found that for some reason there is some confusion on the bulb in this make in model.
