Of course it comes back. You didn't repair anything. Erasing the diagnostic data doesn't fix the problem. It means that the Crankshaft sensor variation has not been learned. You will need a professional, bidirectional scan tool to perform that relearn.
if this is a GM product with a 16v engine of 2.00 litres then its the same as a astra or a vectra along with the zafiro all europeon named models or a holden in aussie and as such although i have never seen one it could have a common engine with a different car body shape and as such common faults on these engines from around this year and earlier they suffer from this problem and as such what i do here is to fit a earlier crank sensor that fits to the front pulley of the engine and disconnect the crank sensor in the block ,watch polarity on the two wires as one way it will be the same and the other way around they work ok i think the problem is a build up of residule magnatism in the crankshaft causing the computer to play up .If you vehicle isnt fitted with the toothed front pulley or the suppot bracket then take one off a earlier engine in the scrapyard
Your IAT is a sensor located on the left(looking from the front) of your air cleaner box. If your going to install a mod chip, Throw away the 5 cent mod chip. Its going to make the engine run even more rich that it already does. You'll be bogging down the engine with extra unburnt fuel and loosing performance and shorting the life of your O2 sensor and the cat. The IAT sensor "mod" works on some cars (ford), but not the Saturn. Sorry to say.
It may feel real good for a few miles, but your computer is going to BURY that thing, richen up that mix until the thing gets all loaded up on unburned fuel and you you toast your catalytic converter ($400.00). Thank you for using fixya and good luck.
