Question about 2001 Audi A4
I have a 2001 Audi A4 1.9TDi. My ESP light recently started coming on combined with a jerkiness in the engine. Manual suggested turning ignition off and on, which worked initially, no more. ESP light comes on shortly after car is started, engine judder/jerkiness stays while I drive. Audi have compression tested and suggested that they can only identify that there is a problem in cylinder 3, but cannot pinpoint the problem. They now want to remove the engine head to do further analysis. Best case scenario (they say) is that it will be a gasket. Minimum labour will still cost at least £1,000. Worst case - new engine may be required, cost around £5,000. I am reluctant to commit without more clarity, given that car value in working condition is only going to be around £5,000 in best case scenario. Any advice or further considerations?
Could be a bent valve but all depends how much da car means to you if you want to keep your car bring to a local garage or specialest ask them or bring it to a place where dat modify cars and ask them how much dont always go on 1 garage quote shop around and pull a fella in a garage to the side and ask em would he do u a favour as an nixer to do the job and see want he says come bak to me if notin happens
