Question about 1993 Volkswagen Fox

Fitting a new car stereo to the old wiring

Hi,

I've just bought a new stereo for my 1993 VW Polo Fox. I thought unit would be easy to fit, but of course the wiring is all different! And I'm a total novice...

On the stereo, I have wires for:
L&R front & rear speakers
ground wire
+12V accessory / switch
power antenna / amplifier turn on
+12V constant power supply

In the car, I have:
4 wires in one block: black, green and black, red, which I think might be the speakers, and presumably black is -ve...
and also:
2 X grey/white
orange
brown
red

Thanks, Louisa.
Can anyone tell me how I match up these mystery wires with the correct bits of the stereo?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hi, mi vw polo radio cnt gt out of safe mode or play even after entering the code 0163.i am totally confused now and i cnt get the serial number of the radio whn inspecting it.it is scratched and cant read...

Hi
It may be cheaper to just fit a replacement stereo unit.
I cant see why a stamped serial number would be damaged on a stereo....it dont touch anything...unless its been deliberatly damaged.
Fit a new stereo..very easy and prob a better sound quality.

How to change inside door locking knobs

If the knobs don't come up enough to remove (unscrew) them when unlocking with a key, you will need to remove the door panels to access them. take out the screw in the arm rest, take off the window crank and gently pop the plastic fasteners around the edges straight out, them pull door panel up and away. this should expose the knobs enough to remove, then replace the door panel and put in the new ones... Hope this helps...;-)

1992 VW Polo 1.3L Coupe: warning light mystery

Bought a very reputable diy service manual for the vehicle, and that plus a bit of thought and nous gave me the cure: no intrinsic problem other than loose relay connections. Went round with the wiring diagrams as guide checking all electrical connections in tight and relays fuses etc all good. Switched on and no problem any more.

By the way, vehicle is 1992 VW Polo - not Fox (which in UK is a variant of the Polo)
