Question about 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

Intermittent Electrical Probem 2007 Grand Cherokee

3 times in the last month when starting Jeep, I will have no HVAC controls, instruments on dash do not function, no directionals, no brake lights, and cannot shift into neutral to tow Jeep behind RV.

Brought to dealer and when they started Jeep to bring into shop, problem went away. Any suggestions where I can make this problem occur, so I can bring the Jeep to the dealer in the failed position.

Can you remember back to the other times it quit .
was it raining or very hot.

Hi, i have a grand cherokee 5,7 from 2006. The lights in the instrument panel, and the exterior lights keep flashing when the engine in turned on. I cannot adjust the lights in the instument panel neither....

I have a similar problem - every once in a while all of my dash lights flash on like the car is trying to conk out/stall (I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee) - the car has no loss of power and runs fine, just all of the dashboard lights and warnings come on like its going to stall. Happens on dry days, wet days, cold days, warm days - at least 3 times a month. trouble is, because its intermittent no one can find the problem.

Need help on how to remove a 1996 Grand Cherokee HVAC box

rhe entire dash in one piece has to be removed.the steering column has to be removed [dash comes out in one piece guages and all] when your done all you should be able to see is the sheet metal fire wall and the heater/a/c box. it takes a chysler tech about 6 to 8 hours to do one of those. and the reason we can do it that fast is because those were always leaking and we have done scores of them. point is dont get dicouraged its going to take you a long time

This could take some time to pin down so stick with me and we'll get-er-done! First...even though the battery is charged, it does not rule out that you could have a dead cell. Did you have the battery tested? Contact: over4dy@yahoo.com

I have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee 2wd with the inline 4.0. for the last couple months it will run for a while then all the gauges will shut off and all dash lights will come on, but the car will still run....

Electrical problems are nearly impossible to diagnose without actual hands on testing...However, I would check the grounding of your dashboard as well as connections at the back of the dash itself. If the problem changed while you were moving the dash harness, I'd also check that wiring for good plug connections as well. To check or restore dash ground, you can run a direct wire from the negative post on the battery to the lower dash brace and check that any ground wires from the dash brace to the harness are secure and clean.

Sounds like an electrical problem; look for loose, corroded or kinked/broken wires. The problem is most likely in the dash wiring/connections and seems to be pretty common in jeeps.

I had the same problem. Abs light would come on and I would lose all dash instruments. Hit a bump on the road and abs light would go off and dash would come back on. What I did to fix problem, lol I slaped the dash just to the right of instrument panel and it all came back to life. There seems to be a short there, and I slaped it back 3 times in a week and now for the last month it has stayed on.
