Question about 1992 Pontiac Bonneville

93 Bonneville- Engine surge

About 2 I/2 mounths ago I bought a 93 Bonneville w/134,000 miles. Have torque converter lock up problem which I was told could be the TCC by trans shop. But along with that, the car idle's nice, runs real smooth but when i'm crusing along and punch it out (NAIL IT) she surges. Almost like someone is gooseing the gas, Just had plugs, wires, injectors cleaned and one replaced, new water pump, Altenator, Battery, Tires, Both hub bearings, Brake rotors and pads. Over $2,600 in parts and labor last 5 weeks on top of original price of car. Its driving me crazy and has my Machanic stumped. Not reading or storing any codes on top of it. If it didnt have a super nice body I would of taken the cup holders out and had it crushed for revenge. Could this be related to the torque converter lock up problem or is this real "engine" surge. When she surges the RPM's go up and down 3 to 400 RPM. Anyone have any idea's beside's the crusher? Or standing on a corner with a card board sign reading " WILL WORK FOR BONNEVILLE REPAIR"? This car's making me go broke.

Ok. ive posted about my 93 buick park ave dieing when i stop . i was told brake booster which made sence but didnt work.now what uggg!. someone told me harmonic balancer. thoughts?

If that happens after you drove at speeds over 60km/h, there is a good chance that the lock up torque converter of your transmission does not disengage; to test that, drive the car at normal highway speed for a little while and put the gear selector in NEUTRAL before you stop. If the engine keeps on running, there's your problem

Lost my top gear in 1998 bonneville runs at 3000 rpms @ 70. help car has 237xxx miles motor still strong

The torque converter has clutch plates in it that wear down so you loose the over drive function with high miles. The transmission can also not be sending the pressure to apply the clutch in the torque converter.

We unplugged torque converter clutch many miles ago it ran fine for many miles (hundreds)the other day suddenly there seemed to be no gears and it coasted to a stop do you have any suggestions?

why did you unplug the torque converter clutch miles ago?
Did it turn on the "check engine" light?
What kind of car is it? year? (OK probably a 94) make, model, engine size (8th digit of the VIN # will tell that) etc will also be needed to go further

1999 oldsmobile intrigue stalls and surges under deceleration conditions only. Idles in neutral fine, accelerates fine, has no apparent miss. Can put in gear and travel great until under negative torque...

Do you have any codes? If so, what are they?
If not, this could be a mechanical problem with either the torque converter itself or some sort of stuck valve in the valve body inside the transmission.
I just replaced the valve body in my wife's 1999 Mercury Sable and it cleared up a number of problems she was having with shifting and torque converter lock up.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck!

My cobalt's engine is surging from 500 to 800 rpms when I come to a stop What's the problem?

SURGING COULD BE FAULTY FUEL PUMP OR IDLE SPEED CONTROL GOING BAD OR TRASMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER WILL CAUSE ENGINE TO SURGE WHILE ITS UNLOCKING AND LOCKING UP DUE TO A FAULTY FAULTY TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID.

Volkswagen 01M torque converter stuck

You have to be very careful with input shaft rings. They like to eat into the pump stater. Also always buy new vb don't buy rebuilt because they only work 2 out of 5 times. I know this for experience

I was told that there may be a felt spacer on transmission

The Flywheel needs to match the engine. The sensor ring gives the proper signal for the spacific engine computer controls. Was this a used transmission? and what was it out of? is this 4WD? and what year? Does the trans have all the same connctors? If the torque converter doesn't match then it is possibly for different engine or year. The flwheel sensor ring did change on different years.
You need torque converter to match.
