Question about 1999 Jeep Cherokee

1 Answer

Fog lights 1) Noticed (driver side fog light out); passenger side light working; and internal switch with fog light on (shows green illumination). 2) Get new bulp for light out - put in. Still does not work 3) Open up fog light assembly to view working one (to see what I possibly missed - that one still working. (car running lights on) 4) move back to inoperative one (remove retainer clip) suddenly get a spark and it shorts out (I believe) either a fuse or otherwise blows out the one that was working (passenger side). 5) green light (no longer illuminates to suggest lights operative) though switch on. 6) Did I blow fuse (I see no note of a fuse specific in Ownr Manual to suggest fuse for this original equipment fog light setup. 7) I go to a local shop (as a favor and no charge) they run a volt test to bad light (and saying getting "one volt" to that - and suggest possibly bad wire I decided to dulve into later 8) Assuming bad wire - why would it then affect my operating one now? 9) Also could low volt be because something got shorted out?

Thanks very much time to do same!!!!

We installed new side electric mirror and the switch was blowing the fuses. We have tried 4 new switches and the new switches don't work. We put the old switch back in and it works except for the direction that it blows the fuses. We have looked at wiring and can't figure out what the problem is

Check fuse #7 in the fuse block inside the vehicle and fuse #25 in the fuse block under the hood...more than likely you blew one of these fuses when it sparked. as for the drivers side being inop once you replace the blown fuse if you have a test light check for voltage at the bulb connector...the light assembly itself may be bad

My fog lights won't work but switch shows power, however when hit the switch can hear the relay on passenger side fuse box can hear it click does that need replaced

Hi, if the light on the switch is coming on, the relay is fine. Unless both bulbs are burned out, the problem is in the wiring between the relay and the lights. I recommend you trace the wiring backward from the passenger side fog light to the power box under the hood to see if the wire is cut. There should be two wires coming out of the power box--one going to each fog light. If the wiring looks good, it is also possible that the ground to the lights is bad.

Does a 2000 f 250 have a connection for fog lights in the wiring harness if it did not come with fog lights

There may be a connection in the harness or a place to connect the cabling, but what you'll find out is that the light switch is different for the trucks that have fog lights from the factory. They have a pull-to-activate function for the fog lights and an indicator led on the switch that shows the fogs are illuminated.
I would suggest purchasing an aftermarket fog lamp kit with the entire package...switch, wires, relay etc..cheaper in the long run... not too hard to wire on these either...the toughest part is feeding a wire thru the firewall... but even that's not too difficult.
Hope this helps...

Passenger side fog lamp wont turn on

Check the bulb, socket interface, clean contact points. IF you have a test light or ohmeter, check for power to the socket. If unpowered, check the fuse, if powered check bulb element, and socket condition.

Wiring for Bosch Hologen Fog Lights? Wiring harness has 5 wires from relay, Red to battery, 2 Black - 1 to each light?, 1 Yellow to?, 1 Blue to?, & where do the xtra Black and Green wires go to? These...

Look on the relay for the terminal numbers.
Terminal 30 goes to the battery positive.Red Wire
The two terminal 87 go to the fog lights.Black Wires
Match the color wire with what you have on the relay connection for the rest of the wires.
Terminal 86 should connect to your low beam headlight.
Terminal 85 should go to the fog light switch.
The fog light switch should connect to the terminal 85 and the other terminal on the switch will connect to ground.

2004 Saab 9.3 Conv Passenger side front & rear fog lights will not work. New bulbs. Why? What to do? Is there a fuse for just those on right side? All other lights work fine.

Sounds like similar problem I had on my older 93 - one side main beam and brake light not working. Turned out to be a problem with the filament testing relay. Got it resoldered and now ok.

Fog light indicator (i dont have fog lights)

You likely have a pinched wire in your harness somewhere.
Those cars are prewired for Fogs whether you have them or not. If the wiring is pinched with another wire that carries current, it will backfeed through the system illuminating the fog indicator light.
That light does not normally have power with the key off, so knowing that it stays on with the key off, there is little other possibility other than a damaged section of wiring.
Take it back to the repair shop quickly so you can have a insurance supplement claimed.

Rear fog light won't switch off when ignition off.

Try this, make sure both bulbs are the same. Then try replacing both bulbs. Also go to fuse box usually in vehicle under glove box or steering column and change fuse for those lights.

02 Grand Am SE Instrument lights, fog lights don't work

There is a 10amp fuse located in the fuse box under the R/S instrument panel end cap cover.
Open the passenger door, remove the cover, if I remember correctly it is held in place with clips.
The Illumination fuse probobly blew when you were working on the multifunction switch, it happens.
Good luck, let me know if there is any thing further.
