Okay disconnect battery for 3 min to reset engine light to turn off! change wire #2 to #3, Swap them then start it. if misfire happens again if your fault codes goes from po302 to po303 then your ignition wires should be changed!!! if it is the same the that side of coil might be at your point of interest to change but I think spark wires might do it!!!! spark plugs should be the same time!!!! I think this will help??

When put in gear the engine dies?

-Is the engine running fine...? If so possibly the idle is too low.
-Is the engine running rough...? possibly miss fired , blow valve or head gasket.

Good Luck

I'm not sure of engine liter size? How long since a tune-up? I always check for codes, even if lite isn't on. Some of the national brand auto stores will check codes for free, if there are any, just tell them your lite has been going on and off.
Use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. I can give you fuel pressure spec because I don't know liter size of engine? Some vehicles don't have Schrader valve on fuel rail, which makes checking fuel pressure a little awkward.
If you have electronic returnless fuel system, you have a fuel pressure sensor, hopefully on the fuel rail. The yellow wire should be for fuel pressure, engine idling, use digital multimeter on yellow wire. 3 volts = 43.75 psi. 2 volts about 20 psi less. 4 volts about 20 psi more, so you get the picture.
The basics for a rough idle, check for a leak of some kind, fuel--egr--vacuum leak.

99 saturn revs high rpm drop slow rough idle in gear with ac on almost a miss

Put the car in the darkest environment you can and with the engine at idle, look around the high voltage leads; plug wires, etc. I replaced my lousy leads after about 2 years.
If you have a multimeter, you may be able to isolate one or more bad leads by measuring their resistance. It should be ~7-10Kohms, mine were nearly open (infinite) on two.

I've been having problems with my Hyundai Sonata 1999 with a 2.4L 4 cyl. Running rough when started. Have to push gas pedal to start or stalls after running for a few seconds.. Sluggish/jerky starts when...

could be a few things the start up could be the idle air control sensor (my first thought), the coolant temp sensor for the computer might be a secondary thought for the engine being cold if the computer thinks its warm. that would be the first 2 places i would start without a check engine light or code to reference

2000 Chevy s10 2.2L very rough idle at low rpm

run a fuel pressure test, if that checks out fine it may be a faulty coil pack or ignition control module

Truck was running fine coming back from vacation

I would suggest going to Autozone and have them check for code or codes that might have occured, they will do it for free and diagnose what the problem might be. But anytime the check engine light comes on it has to do with your emission, possibly an oxygen sensor may have went bad, have them pull the codes and see what the prob is.
