My 2001 envoy directions say to insert the tool in a hole in the rear bumper to release the spare. The diagram shows this hole near the license plate. There is no hole in the bumper. Whats the deal?

2004 GMC Savana Van. The spare tire hoist needs to be replaced. I have the mounting bold remove but the channel used for turning the hoist seems to be keeping the hoist from dropping down. How do I release that?

The instructions and tools should be under the second row seats.

How to take a spare tire off gmc envoy 2004

Since the spare is mounted under the rear of the car, Its not easy...you have to assemble the long crank rod out of its two pieces, then feed the rod through the hole in the top of the rear bumper and lock it into the mechanism that holds the tire in place. Once the crank rod is locked in, lower the tire towards the ground. Once the tire is low enough, you can crawl under the car and release the tire from its mount. The hardest part is locking the crank rod into the spare tire mechanism through the hole in the bumper.

since you have a truck, what I would do is just saw it off, let the spare fall to ground, and just throw my spare tire in the back. Of course you can try to use wd40 to loosen the stuck mechanism. Little known fact: Brake fluid works best at loosening rust, just don\'t get it on any paint, as you can bet your bottom dollar the paint will be gone by morning.

Changing headlamps

Above each headlamp assembly there are two tabs that when lifted up, will release the headlamp assembly. Once released, it can be pulled out of the body panel. On the rear of the assembly are two large rubber covers, for the low beam remove the upper cover and this will expose the lamp socket. Twist the socket CCW to release the socket. Then change the bulb.

It should tell in your owner's manual. One of the factory-supplied tire changing tools may work for it.

Need to change the tire on my 2008 chevy tahoe but never received the jack and accessories with the truck. don't know how to release the spare and can't get the covers off the lug nuts....please help.

Never recieved the jack and accessories? or just don't know where they are? If it is the latter, the subject is covered in the Owners Manual starting on page 5-86. It explains where the equipment is located as well as how to use it. If you would like to download a PDF version of the Owners Manual, you can get it here. 2008 Tahoe Owners Manual

If you really don't have the equipment in your vehicle, the only thing I know to tell you is to call a local repair shop for some assistance. Then you need to get with your local dealer to acquire the equipment that your vehicle is supposed to have onboard.

How to remove tire from under the van

There is a compartment inside the rear hatch (sometimes on the driver's side and sometimes on the Passenger side) that you can open and your tire changing equipment and instructions will be in there. (unless someone removed it) The jack handle must be used to "crank" the winch to let down the cable that holds the spare tire in place.

Where or how do u find the right spot to insert the rod to remove spare on 2004 envoy? I've tried & tried, the manual shows the rod inserted at an angle to the rt facing back. I think it needs to go to...

I had a similar setup. I had to put the rod in around the license plate to lower it, then remove the rod and loosen it from the middle of the rim there is a wing nut that holds the tire on.
