Engine coughs and sputters and acts like its flooded on cold start.

Unlikely it's flooded, but I did have a similar problem with my car, and replacing the temperature sensor fixed it.

What to do with sputtering and lack of acceleration

Scan for codes stored ion the OBD computer. Many auto parts stores can do this for you at no charge. Based on the results - a complete tune up may be in order.

Good luck!

1992 Chevy S10 2.5L-4 cylinder. just started today outta no were. it idles really rough and pops then when i step on the gas it sputters and pops also smokes a little. help please..

My 1990 S10 pick-up had a similar problem too. It would start up fine (while the engine was cold) then once the engine warmed up it would idle very rough, sputter, and even stall out. My grandpa and I found what was wrong finally. The fuel distributor had been cracked, so when the engine warmed up it would miss (giving either too much or not enough fuel). So I recommend that you check that. Hope this helps.

My '03 Mustang started acting funny today. I

i"ve heard that these year model have problems with defective MAF (mass air flow sensors. i only mention this because i just saw a you tube and a mechanic had mentioned that..but the sputtering could be caused by a number of things. sounds like it could also be a fuel delivery problem, possibly a sticky fuel can try a quick easy fix by trying some Sea foam fuel treatment and drive it around for about 30 miles to see if that will clear it up. Also does you car idle properly? I mean does it lope or surge? because if it does you may want to clean the IAC (idle air contol), this is just a recomendation, my car was doing this and i never ever seviced it before, and you should have seen the biuldup of crud on the pintle, i cleaned it, and now it idles perfectly. it only took me 10 minutes to take off and clean it. hope one of these suggestions helps if not please get back to me.
