Question about 1992 Ford F250

92 F250 ignition tumbler can't remove

I lost the key for my truck (don't ask, it's stupid) I can't turn the tumbler to the "run" position to remove the assembly. I drilled out the pin but the switch won't pull out. I believe it's the "rod" that slides when the switch is turned, and I'm afraid of damaging it when I force it.

any tip would be greatly appreciated

Well, I figured that it couldn't hurt to try the "bigger hammer" method, so I got a drill bit and figured I would just drill out the center key cylinder until it fell out and I could turn it. I grabed a 1/4" bit and started right next to the key slot. as soon as I drilled through it, the cylinder spun on the bit. I must have hit the tumblers just right and it fell right out. the new lock cylinder slipped right in and I was happy.

At least I didn't break anything else along the way.

My 91 F350 would start with out the key for the year that I've had it. One day it locked up and I couldn't turn the key cylinder to start the truck. I tried with the key and still couldn't get it to turn, It just happened to happen at the previous owners house and basically he knocked the key in, and got it to start. It was fine for about a month, by the way the key could be pulled out and it could be stopped and started without the key again. Anyway it has happened again and after hours of jiggling, tapping, shaking, I can't get the cylinder to turn to start truck. Finally I removed the steering wheel, blinker assembly, and since I couldn't turn the cylinder to the on or accessory position, drilled out the little release pin that is accessable when you remove the blinker assembly. It loosened the cylinder up a lot but it feels like it's hanging up on the actuator rod. Should I drill out the actual tumbler like the pitz663 did?

You need to remove the steering wheel and disassemble the steering column far enough to access the lock cylinder release tab from the inside. If you have already purchased a replacement cylinder, you can locate it quite easily.
