Question about 1992 Chevrolet C1500

1 Answer

Won't start. The truck has set for a couple of months and won't start. Plenty of battery and spark ( fires when primed with starter fluid). Problem appears to be fuel related. Checked the one fuse I know about and it was OK. Is there another fuse or breaker for the injectors? What else could it be? It always started when it was parked. A new fuel filter was recently replaced. This is the 5.7 Liter. Thanks, Doug

Doug,
The first place I would start is listen and see if you hear the fuel pump come on. when you turn the key on you should hear it come on for about 2 second. There is a fuel pump relay and it should be located Under hood, passenger side, rear engine area, relay mounted on upper firewall also the a red wire on the wiring harness that has a connector on it. This wire comes form the relay, if you put a test light on that lead, hook to a good ground, it should turn the test light on when you turn the key on, if you have power going to the pump. It is possible that the pump itself has gone bad or is stuck and will not pump, you may try hitting the tank with you hand, sometimes this will knock it loose but I would replace the pump if this works or it will do it again.

I have a 95 honda civic ex,wont start.ran fine yesterday,wont start this morning.battery is fully charged,new cap and rotor.would do u think might b my problem

if it wont turn over 1st check the ground s on the car and the battery 1st. your battery can be fully charged and the car will not start even over night this can happen. then look at the starter. Note: if you have over 109K on the car and the timing belt has never been replaced you will need to have this checked as well.

Car won't start 2003 Dodge Stratus sxt coupe cranks but won't start what could b the problem? I tried spraying starting fluid in the air system but it still won't start!

i would check and see if spark pluges are firing. you can take one out and plug into spark plug wire then let the bottom of the plug sit on engine and get someone to try to start while you look at the plug to see if there is any fire. if you have no fire or fuel it would be the crankshaft sencer. it could be the timing belt but the motor would sound different turning over then it used to.

I have a 96 Chevy Corsica and it won't start.... I

If you have a healthy spark (a blue snapping spark), it would not be a problem in the ignition system or the module. An orange, weak, or intermittent spark could point to trouble in the ignition.
I would check the timing on it, maybe it is a timing chain problem. It should have fired and ran a bit with the starter fluid. The fact that it didn't, even with a good spark, well, probably needs a little shop time investigating. Jumped timing from a worn chain? Low compression in one or more cylinders? A couple of things you need to consider.
Good luck.

I have a 1998 Chevy Cavalier that I can not figure out why it won't start. The following list of parts are brand new: Battery, PCM, Park Neutral Safety Switch, Alternator, Ignition Switch, and finally...

Your car has a sealed transmission, in order to check it you have to go to the dealer or a transmission

shop, its not owner servicable. takes dextron vi, 4 speed 7.4 quarts, 3 speed 4quarts

And as far as the no start, are your plugs getting voltage, if not check your coil, if there is no spark

to your plugs the car will not fire up. good luck!

Ignition relay or fuse could be the problem. When you turn the key to start do you hear a fuel pump kicking on and or do you have spark when you hot wire the starter (I know it's hard to check while trying to start it)? You can email me back and I might be able to pinpoint it more.

Replaced fuel pump but it won't start it will crank but it won't start

when you have your hood up in the air can you hear the starter trying to make a clicking sound or no sound at all with the starter ? Starters also go bad too and some times it is intermitten some times as well. You can use a multimeter if you know how to use one that you can use one to test the starter red hot plug from the battery to it.
