Connect the charger and then turn it on. Use a quality charger.

Boost your car with jumper cables and let the car idle or drive around for about 20 minutes for the alternather charge the batter on its own .if the car shuts off after you started it might be your alternather is no good . the reason why ur alternather might not be working is because the batter all it does is give enough power for the starter to crank the engine as soon as the engine starts running it gets all its juice from the alternather and it charges the batter as well. but some times when the alternather works and the batter is dead meaning all the cells inside the batter are dead it will never take the charge from the alternather. so you would have to change the batter.

if you would like to know how you can you test both parts useing a volt-a-meter... just ask...

p.s. I think its ur batter if you never changed it. so get that changed for the winter so you wont have any more starting problems during cold wheaters

How do you remove and replace the battery on a 2005 RX8 without harming the electronics or ecu?

Just make sure the key is off, then disconnect the battery-negative terminal first, then the positive. If key is off, no harm will be done when replacing the battery. When hooking up new battery, positive first, then the negative. In that order, because were you to hook up negative first, you can cause a spark when tightening the positive, if your wrench were just to touch a metal piece while tightening the cable end bolt. So, taking off: negative first, then the positive; putting on-positive first, negative last.

your batteries sulfuric acid has leaked out and this will give you both problems-dead battery and the sewage smell, and don't get any on your clothes cause it will eat the fabric up on your clothes, even though the battery is dead

Ford Forte, is it the alternator of fuse

Hi:
The battery light means that your charging system is not functioning. that is why your car stopped when you unhooked the battery. You need to check out your alternator. Most auto parts stores will check them for free and let you know if it is bad. If you have a volt meter, you can do a basic check on your car:
Check the voltage of the battery: it should be around 12.6 volts when fully charged. After you start your car, check the voltage across the battery. It should be around 14 volts. If not, your alternator is not putting out the proper charging voltage!

My 2000 Mercedes Benz S500 is dead- electronic key does not

It's not that unusual for a battery to fail that soon, and the "no lights, no nothing" says that it's the battery again. Your best bet at this point is to pull the battery and take it to the point of purchase for testing. They should either replace it under warranty or charge it for you. After you replace the battery you should have the charging/electrical system checked for possible shorts or power drains.

My 2003 4runner wont start. When I turn the key to the "On" position a clicking noise emanates from the fuse box. The raido and in cabin accessories all seem to work but when I turn the head lights on it...

Get your battery tested first. You may have a battery that is just making enough current to turn on things selectively. There are several relays that need a certain amount of voltage and current to close. This is to protect delicate electronics from being run on low voltage/amperage which could cause these systems harm.

That first clicking noise is probably the relay for your cars computer!
Without that being fully energized the motor isn't going to start.

The headlights probably have another relay that is the last straw to pull down the battery output that turns off all the relays momentarily.

2005 Town & Country Van dead battery after short trips

Possible dead cell in battery, most likely a fault in the charging system. First, Jump Vehicle to get started then remove the Negative cable. If the vehicle dies when you take the jumper cables away or when you disconnect the negative cable your alternator or charging system is faulty. If the vehicle runs without battery connected you have a bad cell in your battery, replace the battery.

Hear a click Electrical goes dead

From your description of the problem it appears the cables to the battery need to be cleaned and retightened. If the cables are not making a solid connection you will eventually harm the battery(It will not charge properly and finally derate it to the point of replacement) or even the alternator. If the cables are worn and corroded they may need to be replaced.

Nope, but they are usually near the battery, solenoid or starter (where main service wires are)
