Question about 2007 Mazda MX6
Actually the chances are that the battery is no longer strong enough to start the car. Try jump starting from another car or try a new battery. What happens is that the battery has so little power that when you go to start the car, it saps everything the battery has causing the solenoid to release. Now the battery has enough power to fire up the solenoid again. round and round it goes. Thats what the clicking sound is.

The clicking sound is the starter solenoid. if the solenoid is defective, the car would not turn.
the contacts of the solenoids are already worn out.
either replace just the solenoid or the whole starter.
