The four-digit code is unique to your radio; your neighbor's code will not work on your radio. So what to do if you've misplaced, or never received, the white card, like most people? Dealer trip.

Dealers have vehicle-code pairs in a database, and can look yours up. Many will give you the code over the phone if you've lost your card.

Other dealers will have you drive to their lot and speak to them in person. Because the dealer will need to read off the radio's serial number to cross-reference it with the unique code, bring your radio, and your Volvo. Some reportedly charge US$10-$100 for this. Hmmmmm. I suppose dealers can choose to charge for this, and we can choose to not go back, right?

Put the ignition key to position one, and leave for 2 to 3 hours, The radio in the end will display "CODE" instead of "OFF" then you can type your code(5512)and it will work.

Buy a new radio with built in usb and sd card player its often cheaper than getting ripped off by the dealer who thinks that the golden goose that lays the golden egg has just walked in

I had to take my Volvo into the shop to change the sway bar and when i got it back the radio was locked and asking for a code. I have no idea what the code is or where to find it.

Look closely in the owner's manual for the code which may be written down somewhere. Look for a small white card with the code on it that came with the car when it was new. If not the 4 digit code is specific to your radio so a friends code will not work. I would first call your local Volvo dealer as they will more than likely have the code stored in their computer system. All Volvo dealers have access to the same system. Keep calling different dealers if they want to charge you for the code. Sooner or later you may find one that will give it to you for free. If the radio is displaying code then you are set to enter the code. If it says off then it is locked and you cannot enter a code.. To fix this, leave the radio on with the ignition in the accessory position for about 3 hours and the radio will again display code. The dealer may need to access the serial # off the radio to tell you the code. The code is more than likely written on the back of the radio if you want to pull the radio and look for it yourself. Another way to get the code is to go here http://www.volvocars.com/us/top/community/Pages/OwnerRegistration.aspx and register your Volvo. You can then ask for your code online. You will need the VIN #.

I have a 1994 volvo 850 GLT. Radio reset code

You will need to turn the ignition to the number 1 position and turn the radio on. It can take several hours, but the word code should come back on. When that happens, you will need to put the correct code in. If you don't have it, a Volvo dealer can give you the correct code from your VIN.

I have volvo s40 2002 and i don't know how put

You turn the disc button I think it is, to get the numbers up you want, then push in to confirm the number you have and then bingo should be on. If you do not have the code give volvo service dept a quick call with your reg and they will fix you up with the code.

Radio code ( 98 Volvo S70)

Look in the manual for the code - usually someone has written it in there. If not, call the nearest Volvo dealership and give them the VIN - they can tell you what your code is. Then, with the engine off, turn the key to the "I" position (Roman numeral one) and leave it for at least 4 hours. The radio should then read "Code. and you can enter the 4 digit number! Good Luck!
