Question about 1997 Hyundai Accent

1 Answer

Hyundai accent coupe 1.3, 1998

When I press the accelerator down, the car is stuttering and shuddering like a Kangaroo, before pulling away, in all lower gears. Then when stopped in traffic light it stalls and cuts out or shudders and only moves with a lot of heavy coaxing.

It sounds like there could be 2 possible problems. 1) the spark plugs might be too old and do not convert power efficiently causing it to shudder or even stall when power needs increase (I suggest a tune-up). Or 2) the timing could be off and needs to be adjusted by a mechanic, while you're at it you might want to see how worn your timing belt is, if it no longer grips it can cause off time explosions in the valve chambers and you'll definitely get some shaking action and even stalling and if it snaps, the car won;t be going anywhere (til the belt it gets replaced).

2010 Hyundai accent shudders while accelerating and can't go faster than 40 mph

misfiring can also be cause by low fuel pressure and injector faults . I would eliminate the low fuel pressure by having a fuel pressure test as it checks the fuel, pump, filters ,pressure relief valve and fuel pressure sensor that controls the fuel pump. Basically if the pressure is not high enough then the injectors do not get to let in enough fuel and so a misfire occurs
