Question about 1995 Nissan Pathfinder

New ignition i lost my key for my pathfinder so iam going too put in a regular aftermarket ignition switch in but having problem figuring the wires out i got a. black/yellow white/red blue black/green black/white what do they go too!!! please help

Car will not turn off with keys off and removed


This can be caused by a few different things.The first item to check would be the alternator. There may be a feedback to the ignition switch from the voltage regulator field exciter wire. The other scenario that we commonly see is feedback from an aftermarket ignition system that utilizes an internal relay, or both a battery and ignition source to power the system. These are fairly common problems that people experience when using many aftermarket-wiring systems. Generally, an OEM harness will not have the problem of alternator "run-on", as there is usually a resistance wire in the dash harness to keep this from happening. Solution: To figure out where the problem exists, start the car and with the key in the ON position and the car running, turn off the key. With the ignition turned off and the car continuing to run, simply remove the plug from the alternator (DO NOT TRY AND REMOVE THE BATTERY POWER WIRE FROM THE POWER STUD!) and the car should shut off if the alternator is creating the problem. If it does not stop running, your feedback problem is coming from something other that the alternator. If you are using an aftermarket ignition unit, check to see if there is a fix available that includes a diode to put in line on the ignition feed to keep their system from back feeding into the ignition switch. If you do not have an aftermarket ignition system in your car and it continues to run after pulling the alternator plug, you'll want to call tech support from your harness manufacturer for help. If your car does shut off when you remove your alternator plug, you may have to put a diode in line on the field exciter wire to keep the alternator from back feeding to the ignition switch. Again check with the harness manufacturer for help.

I have a 2001 ford explorer and lost my keys, I put an aftermarket ignition in and had a locksmith come out but coulod not program my key, I saw someone post else where that you can splice a green/pur


Last one i done i had to drop the fuel tank to by-pass the security thingy on top of the tank ,you need the 4 figure code from the dealers that came with the vehicle from new to be able to program the key

You don't have enough information to give a good answer, but I will try. Just by guessing, I figure you want to remove your ex factory ignition switch and stick in an aftermarket thingy with three contacts on the back?
The three contacts are used fot: 1 power in. This is the power that comes from the battery usually via the starter solenoid. There will be one contact that goes to the solenoid pick contact. This is the contact on the starter solenoid that activates the solenoid to make the starter spin. All other wires go to the third contact.
Now, if the (new) ignition switch does not have a start position, in other words it is just to switch the car on and off, one wire is for power in, the other for ignition related circuits such as wipers, a/c, horn etc, and the other for accessories such as radio, courtesy light (dome light) etc.
So you see, give more info so we can really help you.

Won't start after ignition switch is released


One of your wires is on the wrong side of the starter solenoid. You need to get a test light and figure out which wire goes to the coil and trace it back to the solenoid, switch it from the starter post to the ignition post and you should be good.

Need to know how to program new ignition switch & cylinder


At you year make and model the factory alarm was just the pellet that disabled starter,the alarm was part of the ignition switch if anything you will need to replace the aftermarket alarm. A repair will cost you more than to replace the unit,You will have to cancel the aftermarket alarm under the dash and restore the ignition wire that is spliced for the alarm relay.

I turn the key nothing happens? I have new battery, I put in a new starter, all the lights and bells work. The starter has been tested it'"s new. I changed ignition relayy switch still nothing It...


I have a 93 pathfinder SE 4X4 automatic transmission that had full power, new starter and battery. Sometimes it will start and sometimes not. By passed starter relay by adding push button start and it started 6-8 times then nothing. I finally figured out that it was the neutral safety or inhibitor switch on the 4 wheel drive shifter. Just an idea..good luck

I have a 1993 Toyota 4Runner. I changed the bulb in the headlight and disconnected the battery. When I reconnected the battery the alarm went off. I do not have the alarm remote to disarm the system. ...


look in the fuse box and if iam not mistaken you can remove a fuse which will shut it up on these older vehicles,or re connect battery and try to open and close door three times then put the key in ignition quickmanother trick i done with my jag when the fob fell of the keyring ans i thought i had lost it was to put the key in ignition and turn ignition on and after third attempt to start the alarm stopped and car started after it recognised the chipp in the key

After changing .battery on key fob unable to lock/unlock doors with keyfob when done with key alarm sounds until key is put in ignition and turned p reg nissan terrino 4x4 petrol


sounds like the remote has lost its programming might have to take to dealer if it original equipment if it is aftermarket might have to call manufacturer.

Starter fails to start.


I'm having the same problem. The dealership keeps telling me it's the starter. I've replaced starter and still have the same problem. I have had all the wiring and new key swith put in and still have the same problem. I guess were in the same boat!!!
