Question about 1988 Ford Mustang
The car will not start and you can hear the fuel pump keep running when you turn on the key. If it runs short time the car will crank.
I had two vehicles in the last month do this and when i dropped the fuel tank the rubber line in tank between the pump and pickup tube was broke not alowing fuel to be sent to engine

I had similar issues with my 1987 Mustang GT. I wasn't getting anywhere during my troubleshooting like I said the same issue you were having .....with the fuel pump priming but no start. I researched further and spoke with a older coworker Ford Fleet tech, he told me that a common problem was the TFI module attached to the Dizzy. I replaces with with a Wells generic module.... still no start....2 more months of painstaking troubleshooting. I started backtracking and thought I would spend $50.00 and replace the TFI module with a Ford Motorsport oem tfi module turned the key.... and she started without hesitation. Long story short don't throw your hard earned cash at parts that will not fix the issue at hand. Read up and Research when you fix the issue you will know that stang better than the engineers who developed it. Hope this helps someone fixing or researching there late model Ford Mustang. Ryan MN

Replace the fuel pump relay underneath the drivers seat. Sometimes you can can tap on the old one and get it to work.
