Question about 1995 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

95 Taurus SHO

Car was working just fine, but no it will not start. Its a 3.0l with Mannual, and it is acting as tho the clutch is not being pushed down. It doesn't attempt to turn over at all. This car does not have the anti theif device either. This is new car to me so I'm not sure if the Check Engine light stayed on while the key is put into the ON position. Battery is good all lights are fine even when attempting to start the car the lights didn't go dim. I haven't spoted anything that not connected or come unpluged.
Any ideas?

Check the power cable going to the starter. If even a little bit loose it may cause your problem.

I have a 93 taurus sho. it was running fine and now it won't start. any advice would help, also need to find where i can get a owners manual so i know what fuses go where on the fuse box.

try hitting the gas tank with a piece of wood, the fuel pump may have started going bad and by hitting it loosens up the pump so it might work a little enough to start it.Then you will know if thats the problem for sure.I had this problem on a friends 1991 SHO

Will it stall if you keep your foot on the gas like the Idle speed is set low? Possible Idle speed motor? I'll have to look up the location of the low coolant sensor.

your best bet for a diagram is to ask for a suspension printout at your local dealership. Or take a look under any 86-95 Ford Taurus SLO, SHO, or Sable and they use the same design (the SHO just uses slightly different parts. Here is a link though for a SHO parts list with part numbers. Hope this helps.

Engine dies 95 taurus

It is most likely the TFI ignition module, replace it, don't use anything but the FORD part, the aftermarket modules are very poor quality, I have done hundreds of TFI"s and know this for a fact.

It sounds like the same thing that happened to my sons car. He was driving home from school and it just died on him. It acted like it wanted to start but would not. He replaced the ignition module and now it starts. He was gotting power from the coil to the distributor, but not from the distributor. Good luck
