Question about 2000 Toyota Corolla
More than likely a speaker cone is broken in the rear speaker/s. This could be due to a malfunctioning head unit that surged too much power to the rear speakers. I would have your CD player and rear speakers looked at to make sure, before you spend money that you do not have to.

Sounds like a speaker problem, but it could be the stereo itself. it could have a damaged circuit board. the only way to find is to test the speakers/head unit.
