Question about 1994 Audi 100

1 Answer

Transmission oil The audi has a sort of sounds like something flapping in the wind when you start it, the more you give it gas the noise goes away. I have been told that it may need transmission oil but I can't find where to check or even fill the oil..

Front wheel drive i presume... if so the dipstick for the transmission oil will be on the top of the transmission which is attached to the motor. the way to tell is that the fluid will be pink (ideally). tho i suspect that may not be the problem that is how you check it. adding tranny fluid is thru the same hole that the dipstick goes into... you will need a funnel.

ok.... look at the transmission. you should see a long rod sticking up from the transmission with a curled circle end on it... pull up on that gently at first to make sure you have the right one.

Failing that .... just stop at a garage and ask them to check the transmission fluid level for you.... watch what they do.

Somtimes drive belts can get a hard spot in them causing all sorts of funny noises. If the noise is related to engine revs, try removing the belts to see if it goes away

Sounds like the oil pickup screen is clogged causing low oil pressure at idle. Oil pumps do not go bad in these cars.

I have a tapping noise from my engine bay on an audi v6 tdi, i think it may be a tappet and have been told it may likely be fixed with an engine flush and service car has only covered 114000mls,the noise...

The cam followers are self adjusting,so an engine flushing agent and new oil (10/40 semi synthetic), should sort out the "tapping" noise,When the engine is hot run at 3500 revs for 30 secs to reset gaps

Spinning sound when pushing gas peddle, sitting

try it with the belts off you can start it and see if the spinning noise goes away then it's accessory's like bad alternator or power steering pump but dont run it more than a minute or two or it will start to overheat. and if it still makes spinning noise make sure it's not coming from the transmission /use a broomstick against the engine block near each piston to hear the condition of the pistons if there scored real bad it makes noticable diff noise than a diff piston will make. check the front of the engin the water pump sometimes needs to be replaced because the bearing in it drys up and fails / there sealed bearings in a water pump than go make noise . good luck give you stuff to think about.

Pop! flap flap flap!! mystrerious

I had the same sound that you mentioned. I found it to be the roof rack sliding backwards. Tightened it and the noise went away. Occasionally, it will make the same noise, depending on the wind, but I have always found it to be stopped by tightening the roof rack. Hope this helps.

ThenI start my engine it sounds like diesel and no power

how is the oil level and pressure?, how many miles on engine? is this a loud knock or rather a clatter/ticking noise? knock is engine rod or crankshaft bearings, clatter loud ticking is valve follower noise. how long before it (the noise) goes away?
