You need to call a stereo shop and see if they make house calls to disconnect the alarm system or you can tow it to the shop

most aftermarket alarms have a valet button and in the case of lost or broken key fob the button can be held or pressed when the ignition is turned on the turn alarm off. if it is a factory installed system usually opening driver door with the key will disarm it

you need to go to an alarm installer and have them disarm the alarm. If you try to disarm yourself, you could possibly damage computer configurations.

1996 Grand Cherokee keyless entry problem

That remote should not be able to  be programmed by you, it needs to be programmed by the dealer using their computer.  I know that some later and earlier models can be programmed by the user, but I did some research on this as i have a 96 as well and it seems the 96 was a dealer computer thing.  If you in fact bought the remote from the dealer they should be willing to program it for FREE.  Otherwise I was given a $30 estimate for the programming.
