Question about 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan

1 Answer

P1684 dtc code on 2001 dodge grand caravan sport.

The check engine light came on after a trip. Later while getting an oil at a quick change oil place they checked the system and advised loose gas cap and adjusted it and sure enough the light went out. Then 2 weeks later the light came back on again. A neighbor then suggested disconnecting the battery. So I did and then light went out for two days and now back on again. I checked to see what the code was and it now comes back as p1684 ...battery disconnected in the last 50 starts....so how do i turn it off? And what is the real problem given that the light was on before I disconnected the battery?

Yah code 1684, it just tells you that battery/computer has been disconnected within last 50 starts. If it doesn't drive you nuts, give it some time, you'll be suprised how quick 50 starts will go by & light should go out

2000 dodge grand caravan sport, the check engine light is on, but no codes found after checking with reader, speedometer is jumping all over the place, from 0 to 120 mph, when the speedometer jumps around,...

no codes found because your checking the PCM,
your problem is you need codes from the TCM,the computer for the transmission, since you replaced the speed sensor the other two things that affect a speedometer and transmission are the input and output sensors, they both screw in the transmission.

Engine light on - Dodge Grand Caravan Sports 2001

p1684 means the battery was disconnected within the last 50 starts!!
this means that the light should go off, if it continues to set that same code i believe it's because the battery voltage is too low!!
so buy a new battery and that should fix your problem!!:-)
