Question about 2000 Lincoln LS
My 2000 lincoln ls overheats, replaced thermostat but what i wanted to know is how to bleed the cooling system.
There is a hose on the side of the coolant resevoir that has a straight blade screwdriver fitting in it. Open the fitting and this will bleed the heads on the LS. Without opening this you will never get the air out of the head, trust me.

You start the engine with the radiator cap off turn your heater on full heat and max fan wait for the engine to warm up to operatorating temp this will happen when you can touch the upper radiator hose it will be hot, this tells you that the thermostat is open. the coolnt level will fall in the radiator just add the coolant till it stops dropping. then fill the overflow tanbk to the hot level. put the radiator cap on and tighten closed put the overflow tank cap back on your system is bled.. please rate this

So where does the old coolant come out of?

You drain your old coolant from an off white plastic plug on the passenger side of the radiator.(bottom)
