There is a hose on the side of the coolant resevoir that has a straight blade screwdriver fitting in it. Open the fitting and this will bleed the heads on the LS. Without opening this you will never get the air out of the head, trust me.

You start the engine with the radiator cap off turn your heater on full heat and max fan wait for the engine to warm up to operatorating temp this will happen when you can touch the upper radiator hose it will be hot, this tells you that the thermostat is open. the coolnt level will fall in the radiator just add the coolant till it stops dropping. then fill the overflow tanbk to the hot level. put the radiator cap on and tighten closed put the overflow tank cap back on your system is bled.. please rate this

You drain your old coolant from an off white plastic plug on the passenger side of the radiator.(bottom)

Heater on my 2001 Lincoln LS blowing cool air. Engine fan keeps coming on. Temp gauge goes up to highest level, then returns to midpoint. Does not overheat. Are all of these things tied together and how...

Yes more then likely it's all tied together... Check the coolant level it's probably low or you need to bleed the air out of the cooling system...

Lincoln LS 2000 keeps over heating. Changed thermostat. Still overheating!

Could be several things - you will need to figure out if the cooling system is working or if the engine is producing extra heat such as with a restricted exhaust.
Check the radiator fan and the water pump.

Suspect hydraulic driven main cooling fan not

the fan speed could be one problem...the other problem could be wth the radiatr cores being blocked..check whether the heat on your radiator is even front top to bottom and on all sides...if it is not, clean the radiator and check for the problem

Why is my lincoln ls (2000) v8 overheating? it has never done this before.

poss causes are thermostat stuck closed, replace it, next would be engine electric cooling fan inoperative, test it for proper operation.

there is a coolant cap on the overflow bottle check it for seal
i'd just replace it
also if you put the new thermostat in backward the overheating would be significant

2000 lincoln ls - where is the cooling system overflow container?

I believe it's on the drives side at the fire wall by the hood hinge. It's actually called a degas bottle because coolant flows through it under pressure to onstantly bleed air from the system. Be sure to tighten it as the cap states so it does not leak air in.
