Ford When I first start the truck it has white and blue smoke coming out the tail pipe and it willnot hardley go. I have to excelerate to the floor for the truck to pick up speed. I can smell a whole lot of fumes when driving. Do you have any ideas on what the problem may be.

I had this identical problem last year. The dealer replaced my fuel pump and when I went to pick it up it did the same thing. Turned out that there is a service update that will need to be applied. The update will reprogram the order that your fuel injectors fire. This was the only problem I was having and it ended up costing me $1100. I would take it to the dealer and ask them to look at all the service updates pertaining to hard starting and fuel injectors.

Hope this helps and you have not already shelled out money for something that is a fairly simple fix.

My Ford escort 1999 white smoke comes out when you excelerate I know it's not the gasket what can I do I think it is this part but not sure the name of the part

Howdy anon,

The thingamabobbie... (can't think of it either).
((I don't believe there is such a part but I'd love to be WRONG)).

Black smoke is usually over-fueling, blue is oil burning and of course your BASIC WHITE is water.

WATER is a by-product of combustion... so it is perfectly normal to see white smoke during the warm-up... often with water actually dripping out of the tail pipe.

However, once the ENGINE comes up to operating temperature... the exhaust becomes quite hot... No more water should be visible (unless the weather is horribly cold).

Go to easy to use on-line catalog. The parts are wonderfully laid out by systems... perhaps you can find your part there... or go to for the TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLITINS for your specific car...

Hope this helps.

Are you saying you have smoke coming out of the tail pipe ? Or is something dripping onto the exhaust pipe and burning ?
If the smoke is coming out of the tail pipe, is it blue, white, or black ?

88 thunderbird white smoke and water coming from tail pipe

Possibly a blown head gasket, letting coolant into the cylinders to be burned. White smoke is usually coolant burning. Have the engine's compression tested to verify.

1997 ford rangerwhite smoke and liquid coming out tail pipe the smoke is very thick

You very likely have coolant entering the cylinders of the engine, you need the head pulled off and checked for cracks and if ok the head machined flat and replaced
