U may need to change the EGR valve. It truley sounds like the problem.....Hope this helps you out.
so the EGR valve can make the car lose speed then power while driving? also i went to start it and battery was dead...could it be draining battery?
This is possible because the electrical system is drawing more power to keep the vech running.A basic tune up im guessing you have already done and i had the same problem with my 94 jimmy a few years back when i had it.Hope this helps you out.
the EGR is supposed to be open when driving to help reduce emissions and combustion temperatures. It is likely not your problem. Another thing you would notice if the EGR was open is that the brake pedal would be really hard to push. If the EGR where stuck open it may not start and would likely not idle well or at all.
Did this problem just happen out of the blue or has this been a problem for sometime and seems to be getting worse. The more info you provide the better we can help you solve the problem.

What engine?
Is the check engine light on?
If it is have you checked for codes?
In response to your dead battery.
Jump start the vehicle and check to see what the charging voltage is. it should be mo0re than 14 volts. If it is less than 12.5 volts than it is possible the alternator is not charging. This would eventually cause the battery to get low enough that it could no longer provide minimum voltage to keep things running.
An EGR stuck open will not cause your "electrical system to draw more power to keep the vehicle running"
YES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON!!!!
What codes are present? The check engine light is on because the computer is trying to tell us something is wrong. All we need to do is listen to what the computer is saying and we will have a valuable clue as to what the source of the problem could be. Find out what codes are present and post them here. Then we should be able to get you pointed in a much better direction.
