i have a very noisy problem that when i put the key into it's place & turn it to start position then nothing happened ( the car won't start at all ) but all the speedometer & lights is on & check engine is turned off.
then after many times trying it succeeded & it start but after many times.
You need to find out if its the starter or in the ignition find the small wire on the starter that activates the solinoid use a test light on that wire to see if there is power . dont forget to check engine and body grounds from battery. if all good then then check the big cable at the starter for positive power if ok starter defective. if no power on the little wire then could be ignition ,anti theft, starter relay or wiring. good luck

If you have power in aux position(ex.)radio works but doesn't when you put the key in the start position, the ignition switch is bad,the contacts are warn out for starting/cranking&run positions, these are used everytime you start your car,but auxillary is ony used once in awhile(ex.)your sitting listening to music while waiting for someone to come, but if you do have radio in the run position, but no cranking/starting you could have a blown resistor on fire wall or fuse for ignition,or the starter has called it quits, good luck I don't know if the starter is clicking rapid or just one click or just no power not cranking or cranking a better description of everything that happens will make this alot easier
I just went through this two days ago. You probably need a new ignition. What happens is these cars lose connection for some reason to the chip in the key and it can't be fixed with just programming. It has to be a whole new ignition. Mercedes are so much different then to any American car. Good luck and it costed around 950 to fix in Wa state.
If the security light keeps flashing, you might as well do a reset.
Be sure to turn off all the accesories including the radio before you start the process.
Insert the key to the ignition switch and turn the key to ON position without starting the car.
leave it ON until the flashing light (security) stops. It will take approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
As soon the flashing stop, turn the key to OFF
position and start the cart.
Hope this help.
security system does not disable the starter, it only disables fuel to the
engine. In the fuse block under the hood, locate the STARTER relay. Place your
hand on this relay and see if it clicks while someone else turns the key to
start...if the relay is ok then the starter itself is faulty. Good luck, i hope this helps.
This is a very common problem with the Saturn. It's a bad ignition switch. You need to replace it.
Google on common saturn problems and you'll see that hundred of Saturn owners have had this very problem.
It's really amusing how each dealer prances around it and doesn't tell their customers that it's a common problem. If you bring it to them they will know right away what the problem is but they may pretend not to know right away...EVERY Saturn dealer has fixed this on dozens and dozens of their vehicles...
