I have 98 toyota corolla ce and the headlights stay on everytime i turn the engine question is how can i turn them off in the daytime???

In Canada it's mandatory to have DRL(Daytime Running Lights). Your Corolla probably has this feature built in. it is a safety thing however I can understand you wanting them off if it's not the law where you live.
In our 1998 Corolla, I use the parking brake all the time - every time I park - and I've noticed the lights do not come on until I release the parking brake after starting the motor. When I park the car, until I shut off the engine, the lights stay on regardless of the parking brake status however, if I shut off the engine and restart with the parking brake on, the lights do not come on.
If you "adjust' the parking brake switch(i.e.: make e-brake light in your dash it stay on all the time) your lights will not go on until you turn them on via the multifunction lever(left side of wheel). This of course negates the benefits of the e-brake light working correctly (warning you that your e-brake is on or that your brake fluid level is low) which in itself is not so safe!
There is a fuse/relay (I think) in the big fusebox under the hood that has a DRL "spot", you might want to check if you can remove it and still turn the lights on manually when you want them on. Alternately, there is a fuse in the interior fuse box(in Canadian models anyway) labelled DRL. When that fuse is out, it seems the lights only turn ob when I turn them on manually.
Hope this helps and God bless,

First remove all the bulbs involve in the problem, then start installing the one by one, notice when the problem comeback, start looking for a melt, damage or very important wrong bulb touching two filaments at the same time.

Find the turn signal flasher and remove it, problem goes away ? inspect the circuit, the combination switch, the bulbs ans socket pig tails for short.

Have a 2000 ford windstar, the parking lights stay on when car is off along with the light switch. What could be wrong?

park relay may be shorted. find relay in engine compartment relay box. Pull relay out--lights should go out. Put back in, does relay click? If no and lights come on again, replace relay.
If relay clicks, suspect your headlight switch is shorted. let me know if you have questions.

Parking lights out

Check the Fuse Box inside for a Blown Fuse with a Really Good Flashlight. You will be able to see which one is Blown. Then Locate the Fuse Relay Box under the Hood and look at the Diagram inside the Cover and Locate the Illumination Relay, Replace this if you cannot Find a Blown Fuse. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

No dash lights ( clock, radio, temp, etc. ) without lights on.

There is a Relay for this under the Hood in the Fuse Relay Box. It should be labeled "Illumination" Or "Lighting" Change this Relay and it should be good. Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help I can Get! Thanks!

Hi erik1983,
Check the right hand side kick panel...You should find the park light relay there....There are fuses for the park lights there too....If you don't see them that side try the drivers side for left hand drive....

All the best Johngee10
