My 2001 jimmy abs and brake lights come on upon the 2nd time vehicle is started and stay on rest of day usually.
How do I diagnose this problem?
If necessary what is the procedure for replacing wheel sensors?
Thanks

Does this mean that I'll just need to solder the loose connections on abs pump to repair the problem?

    Thanx for the great advice.

Battery ground cable became corroded and after cleaning them my anti lock and brake light came on,a week later vehicle did not want to start so I replaced the battery with a new one. When starting the vehicle the lights came on when I started it and then they went out and seemed to be ok but two days when I was driving they came back on and any time I am driving they stay on.Hope you could help me with this problem.

this is on my 1998 Fleetwood southwind class a rv. it may be that the dash light comes on when you start the motorhome just to indicate that I have abs, but don't know. I just bought this motorhome and it scares me that the light stays on. thanks in advance.

This is a abs pump problem. common on these circuits get "unsoldered" from vibration. if you feel like you can solder conections its a good couple hour job and sometimes things get burned out from voltage spikes. good luck jimmy rate as fixya thanx

Too many possibilities. You need to have a scanner that does abs systems used on it and see what the codes are. This could be anything from a faulty wheel speed sensor to a bad abs module.

My ABS and Brake light goes on alot. Also sometimes my gages will go up and down for no reason. That is what they call the GM shuffel. It happens to alot of GM vehicles.
I never had a problem with loosing power or the tranny stuck in second gear. Sounds electrical, if no one can help here, get that thing to a garage before your hurt.

Abs brake light

The Brakes may seem to work okey, but you have an
ABS Braking System light on- indicating a system fault,
just like any other check light you get

Do you not check for codes almost the same day any dash light
or check light comes on?

It will bite you some day-- if you ignore the reason they are there

Is it not obvious to you, that you have a possible
system malfunction in the ABS Braking System?

The light is on & you should be giving us what ever
codes you have,if you have a question.

Any light on the dash of any vehicle, you need to have it
checked out ,diagnosed & repaired in a few days, or don't
continue to use any vehicle with problems.

And don't clear the light, you need the codes to find
out where to start on solving the issues

ABS stays on a 2001 GMC Jimmy

This is a common issue, and is pretty easy to fix. There are ABS sensors on the wheels, and you have a bad one. Usually the wires become corroded, and are easy to spot. The unit is on the back side of the wheel assembly.

2001 Jimmy ABS and brakes lights came on

I hate to say it, but the abs control module might have died on you. Thats the boxy looking thing under the hood that has a lot of brake lines and wire connectors going into it. I have seen this happen before and it ended up being one of the speed sensors on the wheels but usually its the module. Take the truck somewhere to get the light scanned, and that will give you a better idea of what it is.

Brake light on vehicle lit up on dash

check the parking brake sometimes a slight bump can make that light come on... pull it up then disengage it roll the car back and forth and see if it goes out.. 2nd make a heavy salt and water solution and completely drench the brake calipers with it move vehicle back and forth working brake...then spray off immeaditaly with a hose... this should clean up the abs sensors... if ithe light still stays on it may be a malfuction in the cars obds ( on board diagnosis systems..) unpluge positive termianl from your car let it set off for like 3 mins then put it back and start car see if the light stay on after you take it for a drive... if none if these work take to your dealer ship to replace the abs sensors... it wont be cheap....

Good luck.. Hope it fix's'ya!!
