All the illumination lights? May be the headlight switch, fuse or the dimmer knob is rotated too far and it turned them off.

  • Anonymous Nov 08, 2011

The fuse gets power from the head light switch when the switch is in the parking lights or head light position. That fuse also powers the radio an climate control lights as well. You will need to turn the head light switch ON to get power to the fuse.
If I remember correctly, there is a dark green wire from the switch to the fuse and from the fuse a grey wire to the lights (in case you start tracing wires)

How do you fix the dash and running lights?

With what info you've given,it would not have been the light switch or the rheostat for changing dash light brighting.Since both the dash lights and running lights are not working, first thing I'd have done is replace the fuse, since both are o the same fuse.Kinda like when my Toyota wipers would stop, the overdrive stopped working too. Both were on the same fuse.Replace the fuse and good to go.I carry fuses with me.

No dash and tail lights working.

Well the dash lights and tail lights are on two different circuits and fuses, but both controlled by the headlight switch.
Have you checked the fuses to see if they have power ?

'97 Malibu, dash lights don't work

Check your fuses. The dash lights are on a different fuse. Also check dimmer switch. If its not one, then it is the other. Try working dimmer switch quickly back and forth( with the lights on when it's dark so you can see if they come on).

Dash board lights stopped working

You might very well have a problem with only the dash lights, but check your tailight fuse before going further. If its blown, not only will you not have tailights, but your dash lights won't work either.
