DR Power window stops when going up,

I have to wait a few minutes, then it works again. Only happens when window is rolled all the way down.

I have the same problem on the passenger window of my 2002 Pontiac Firebird. Its a convertible so windows are important. Everytime I try to put the window back up it stops just an inch or so before the top. Sometimes it takes two more tries to get it all the way up. It acts as if there is something similar to a dead battery in the circuit, where if you wait just a second you can squeeze just a bit more out of it.

I also have just started having trouble starting the car. I turn the ignition and nothing happens. It turns on all accessories(radio, lights, etc.), but not the starter for a few seconds. I fiddle with the brake pedal and gear shifter to ensure the safety switches are aligned, but it seems the culprit is just random. It always starts within a few seconds once it begins trying. Most of the time I don't have any problem starting the car. I think my problem is related. Maybe a bad battery cable?

If the window is not moving easily in its channels, it may be taking too long and drawing too much current that may be tripping a thermal overload switch that takes a while to recover.
Check to see if the problem window is taking longer to close than the others. If so, the channels may be misaligned or the motor close to death.

Drivers side power window went down and wouldn't roll back up

I had this happen in an old Acura coupe of mine. Motor was slowly going out in the regulator. Pretty cheap fix if you know your way around cars.

My 1998 ford explorer driver side power window will not roll back up! :-(

From your description it sounds like the motor is drawing too many amps and a circuit breaker is opening (to protect the motor). That could be from one of two things: a failing motor or a bad set of gears or some other hindrance that is causing the motor to work too hard. Auto circuit breakers generally reset themselves after everything cools down. Since it happened on more than one window it could also be that the circuit breakers are getting old and less reliable meaning that they will continue to fail more often. The symptoms do not suggest a broken wire

200 GMC Safari Drivers window. The window will go up and down and then it will just stop working. I have to wait a few minutes before I can get it to work again. I was thinking is was the a loose wire but...

there may be binding in the regulator, lube all moving parts and rubber channels with a silicone lube. if that doesnt help. you need a new motor.

I don't have the door key to my 1997 Nissan Maxima and my remotes are no longer working at all, how can I bypass the alarm going off so I can drive the car? The anti theft system won't allow it to start

after the alarm stops going off... do not touch anything... wait 10 minutes or longer... if you are in the car with the doors closed, and the alarm has run through it's cycle and is no longer sounding, do not touch the locks or open the door you will set off the alarm again each time you do this.... attempt to start the vehicle, it will probably just turn on but wont crank or start. this is the immobilizer. It thinks you are tying to steal the car. Since the 97 does not have a key with a chip in it, it will eventually start. However, only after I waited almost 20 minutes without touching anything except to put the key in the ignition and try to start the car withdrawing the key completely each time. This has only happened to me twice because I just don't lock the car anymore. I keep nothing of value in it ever. Each time I got the car to start after waiting and apparently it will start after some time if you push to roll down the driver side window... Haven't been able to find any other mention of this on the internet, somehow this was the trick to getting the car to start again after my remote quit working, and like you i only have a worn down ignition key. It worked for me with all doors except for the drivers side closed. I just kept trying to insert the key and start it, while rolling the drivers side window up and down. Eventually it started after like 30 minutes and after one press to roll down the drivers side window.

Driver side power window goes down fine, when rolling back up it will go up about 2-3 inches and quit. You wait 5 minutes and it will go up another 2-3 inches. Wait another 5 minutes and you get another...

Motor is overheating due to drag in the window tracks or possibly shorted windings. Try using silicone lube spray in the tracks. If this doesn't work, you probably need a new motor.

The rear door driver side window on the Lexus ES300 will not open. The other windows are operating well.

I replace glass in cars for a living and I see this often. I also own an 02 ES300 which had the same problem. It's usually from lack of use that a rear doorglass stops working. The electric motor gets some corrosion in it and stops working. I repeatedly slapped the interior door panel while activating the switch that rolls the glass up or down. After about 5-10 minutes of this it started to work. If you get lucky like I did, make sure you roll the window up and down multiple times if you get it to work. Then remember to occasionally roll all the other windows up and down a few times every week or so to keep this from happening again. Good luck!

Electric window has stopped rolling up

to get up pull on window with your hand while using switch in up position. if window is cocking to the side it is a bad window regulator. if it is just slow and then stopping probably a bad motor. it is harder to go up than down and this causes more pull on motor as it goes bad it will cause the breaker to heat up and trip so if you wait a few minutes you will see it tries to go up again.one quick way to check if motor is trying to work is to cut key on and watch your dome light when you work switch if it dims a little when you hit up button you know power is going to it. if not then possible switch problem.work you passenger window and look at light so you will see what i mean.
