Did you check all the fuses, did you check that your ignition coil pack is good? if all this is fine and the time did not move then i think you have a bad crank position sensor

Why wont 1 spark plug fire

ok did you check to see if the spark plug wire is good and if it is good take out the spark plug and put it on the spark plug wire that its not firing on if it fire at the spark plug then you should do a compression test if the compression is bad you may have a burn valve or something and that would be what causing the misfire

I once had a Jeep with similar problems. I opened the hood in the garage and noticed electrical sparks traveling from the spark plugs to the distributer cap. I replaced the spark plug wires and distributer cap. Everything works well! RICK D

Let me also say that on my 97 pathfinder it ran good up until i replaced the water pump. then it wouldnt start. so i changed the spark plug wires and plugs. same thing...wants to start just wont fire up....

My first thought was the timing belt was not in time since you have to remove the belt to get to the pump.
The crank sensor is near the flywheel so it should not have been touched.
But timing should not affect the spark coming out of the coil.
It could be a problem with the resistor for the coil or something with the computer.
Did you also replace the cap and rotor when you changed the distributor ? Is the spark weak coming out of the coil ?
You may have to get a used shop manual from Ebay to get the test procedures and wiring diagram for the ignition system.

Turns but wont start at times, 12valve with FI

Distributers are very common for failing in these cars, when the car wont start, pull a spark plug out leave the wire connected and place the threaded portion of the spark plug on some metal on the engine. Get a friend to turn the key, look for spark between the gap on the spark plug, if no spark, signs point to bad distributer

Car wont start, not getting spark

crankshaft sensor, or computer on toyotas then it was usually the distributor or the computer, but the crankshaft sensor might be bad too thats what helps to get you spark.

2.2 no spark, but getting fuel.

You need to remove the upper timing belt cover and make sure that your timing belt didn't jump. All it takes is the belt to jump one tooth on the sprocket to create this problem. One tooth equals 17 degrees of timing. Make sure that you can hear the fuel pump come on as well when the key is in the "on" position.

Car will not start

All the things you replaced were a great place to start. I would suspect the ignition coil. approx. 119.00 for OEM a lot less at the parts store.
