PULL THE TRANSMISSION PAN TO SEE IF THE IS ABNORMAL CLUTCH MATERIAL IN THE PAN. IF EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS ARE NOT PRESENT THAN THE PROBLEM SHOULDN'T BE TOO SEVERE. WAS THE FAULT CODE FOR VOLTS TOO HIGH OR TOO LOW?

What does codes p1757 an p1762 on 2001 grand cherokee mean

P1757 - Governor Pressure Above 3 PSI When Request Is 0 PSI

P1762 - Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Improper Voltage

Both codes are refered at the governor pressure sensor; I am 99% certain that is bad. Just replace it. Check the voltage on the Light Green/White wire at pin 29 in the white PCM connector with key ON, engine OFF (KOEO). It should be about 0.5-0.7 volts.

If higher than 0.8 volts, check the Transmission Temperature sensor reading on a scan tool. If the Transmission Temperature sensor reads normal, the sensor ground is OK. If the sensor ground is OK, then replace the Governor Pressure sensor.

Hope this helps.

I have a code p1762 for my 97 jeep grand cherokee

Trouble code P1762 means: Governor pressure sensor offset improper voltage. Gov. Pressure Sensor. It is located in the valve body of the transmission and requires dropping the transmission pan to replace. Sounds much more difficult than it is. Since you have to change your fluid it's a good idea to change the trans. filter .

Had the same code on my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Started having shifting problems as well. Code is for governor pressure sensor on trans. Cost me about $800 for dealer to fix. No problems after part changed out.

P1762

Looks like the fautl code refers to the stuck solenoid on the shift control valve which is in the valve body.
It is a job that requires lots of precision and probably if you take the valve body out you'll need a plan to reassemble it...I would suggest getting it to a specialist.
Cheers

Check engien lihgt with code p1762

CEL Code P1762 is Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Improper Voltage. Make sure all your wires going to the sensor are ok, then if they are I would look into a new Sensor. Hope this gives you some direction. Thanks for Using FixYa!

Sincerely,
