Question about 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

1 Answer

Starter problem Hello, I had AAA toll service come over my house to give my battery a jump. Come to find out apparently, it wasn't the battery. After turning the ignition, lights would come on, but no cranking of the engine, not even a hint. I'm guessing it is the starter. Apparently this is a job that requires the engine to be lifted and so forth, Could it be the starter, and would we also have to replace the solenoid as well,(kill 2 birds with one stone sort of thing?).

i have the same problem with my 97 blazer. We have replaced the ignition switch, battery, battery cables, starter, and relay. The dealership checked the computer and the alternator, stating they are both fine. Some days it will start right up, some days it will not.

The solenoid will come with the starter if you go to your average parts store. there will be a core charge though if you do not bring the old one in when you purchase the new one. autozone and advance auto can check your starter for you for free (from what the commercial says).

99 suzuki vitara v6 turns on all power but wont

the starter uses 10x more elect. power than the head lamps
or 100x more than dash lamps. it means little.
what matters most is jumper cable starts.
does it crank with jumper cables to a running, donor car,(aaa jump)
no bad starter
no, bad starter key line( immobliizer or such) ask how to test.
yes, cranks great, now.
that means the battery was dead,
i charge the battery and it now cranks, due to lights left on or
charge system failure, if battery goes to 13.3 to 15v running good
if on the charge system failed. (causing battery discharge)
if after charging a battery it will not crank car, its a bad battery (jumps ok)

Double check all connections, make sure they are tight. Wire brush the battery connections, make sure the connections on the starter ore good and tight.

Car won't start, Ford Expedition, clicking noise

if the car will jump off doesn't matter what AAA said battery is bad, either terminals are excessively corroded, or battery has a dead cell internally, remove battery and take to a reputable auto parts store or repair shop and have tested, also have load tested it is bad.

2000 Chrysler Sebring w/year old battery.  Advise, what could have occurred when AAA jump me???  Left tiny interior light on under my mirror--battery dead.  After AAA came, I let it run

I doubt the service person did anything wrong. In today's cars with both engine and body computers, jump starting a car can be risky.
You're better off having the battery charged for an hour or so then trying to start it.
You may have to have the body computer scanned and possibly flashed to get everything working again. The body computer controls everything you mentioned. It could have lost some of the factory programming when the system was dead.

Battery is dead alarm goes off when jumping it

The battery should be removed and charged, not jumped. If you are a AAA member, they will do it for you. If not, join AAA for $35 and the next day call them for the free service.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 1997 .. no power.. just hood light is on but dim.. no ignition sound

hello. either your battery is bad, or your charging system is bad. If you have AAA, call them and they will come out and jump you for free, also they will have a device with them to check your charging system and they will even have a new battery if you choose to purchase one from them.

That said, if you do not have AAA, get a jump and drive to any autozone or similar parts store and they will do the same services for you.
